Description
This is only if Minnesota has a really rough season and decides to do a major retool and get younger

And keep in mind that Spurgeon is from Edmonton so it's likely one of the only locations he'd waive his NTC for. And I actually don't think the fact that he's the Wild's captain changes much. Captains get traded all the time: McDonagh, Horvat, Giroux, Staal, Eichel, Karlsson, ETC...

Zero chance Connor Brown gets more than 800k especially if he's receiving that 3.25 bonus

Yeah not really all that important to this ACGM. I put him at 2 million just in case he goes off in the second half off or something lol

I like Spurgeon, but we need to upgrade more than our defence here. This bottom 6, and goaltending is BAD! Taking a 7.5M defence man shouldn’t be what we should do in my opinion.

I agree, this is only a possibility if guys like Mcleod and Lavoie step up and finish the end of the season on a high note

I hope so! I hope to see big things from Holloway, and Brown too! All those guys have been very disappointing so far.

A lot of advanced metric show that the oilers should be scoring a lot more than they are. I think with Connor Brown, he's only going to get better as the season goes on. He's been a consistent 15-20 goal guy his entire career, I'm hopeful that at some point he'll get back to that.

I find Holloway actually looks really good most shifts, but he's not getting any results, may not be a bad idea to let him finish this season year in Bakersfield

May not be a bad idea. Could learn a thing or two down there. Broberg too, as he’s bouncing back and fourth. Brown I hope can get better soon, but I would like to see Bourgault maybe get a chance in the NHL next year. See what he can do, and if Brown bounces back, maybe we can get him for cheap just in case. Bourgault is an interesting guy down there, that’s for sure, but he will be 22 next season. I could see him being just about ready for a top 9 position on the right wing. For Rodrigue, I like the guy, and I would like to see him get a chance, especially since he is doing well. I guess it depends on how well Skinner does. I believe Skinner can play well like he did last season, and if he does, then yes, bring Rodrigue up next year. If not, maybe he could learn from a veteran too.. Either way, it will be interesting to see if we keep Holland past this season, and what they do with the team. For defence, I wouldn’t mind a Connor Murphy, or Dylan DeMelo type guy on there with Nurse. Cheaper than Spurgeon, but also good players.

Connor Murphy is a guy I've been interested in for a while, especially if Chicago would retain salary like they did for the McCabe trade.

I think with goaltending next season we need to do it by committee. Sign not just one guy, but a couple of fringe NHL Level goalies and whoever impresses gets to stay with the team. That's why I signed Comrie and Martin Spencer in this ACGM. Both are having poor seasons, but both have NHL experience and could bounce back

It's unrealistic in the sense that Guerin would never do this, but for the sake of being armchair GM's, I accept. Only thing I'd ask for is to make the 2nd a 2024 one, since the 1st is 2025.

Completely agree with both! I apologize, I didn’t see Martin, and Comrie getting signed, or I wouldn’t have said that. Comrie is actually an underrated goaltender that I think could do well, and Martin would probably be doing better if he was on a better team. Both will be good cheap options to pursue with the lack of cap space we will have. I agree on Murphy too, and I haven’t calculated the cap with him on the team, but I think we may even be able to take him at full cap hit too, as he’s only making 4.4M. I like the changes you made with the team too, as we’ve been talking. Have a great one!
