I agree he is staying but next year with with all of the core 4 making 11 plus mil it would be hard to do anything around them. Brad doesn’t seem the best at finding cheap value deals. But who knows

In general what has been seen is the big 4 can never play well all at the same time. Its often 2 by 2. Matthews and Marner were great to start the season but then when Willy and JT got going both went cold. Now against CHI everyone went cold. Lets see which 2 bounce back

Not that object to trading Marner or Kampf, But certainly Marner''s NMC would most likely nix any trade to non playoff team.
Same with Kampf and his M NTC. "Somewhere" isn't a trade option.

The difference between the proposed trade and this is that Tkachuk was traded for two ufas and Tkachuk with the 8-years. Here it's kind of flipped with Marner being the pending ufa and Pulock having a lot of term on his deal. There's no way that the Isles include him for Marner alone. The other thing to consider is that Zito's offer was the best offer for Tkachuk by far according to Treliving, so that basically means that there's a good chance that no other GM would do something like that let alone Lou (assuming he's still GM).

Worst case scenario, it's one wasted year. Right now, everyone in the Atlantic is .500 which is an indication of how much more competitive the Atlantic is about to be in the coming years. The Leafs truly do need all of MNM to be competitive in the division, so they'll try to sign them at whatever cost which means that there is the potential to lose them for nothing via free agency. The bright side is that they will have 11M+ to spend in FA. Nylander could potentially be replaced by Reinhart or Stamkos and/or Hanifin Marner by Drasiaitl.
