If that's the case it's a pretty easy yes for the Hawks. Like you are getting a free 1st for what will be a 1 mil buyout penalty.

Leverage goes both ways when you have the buyout ability. Chicago has cap space now, they can take on contracts for free picks. But if their price is too steep they'll overplay their hand and get nothing. The leverage against the Oilers isn't more than a 1st when you can basically bury Campbell in the AHL and buy him out this off-season.

You may be a bit light on the Chicago trade when it comes to dumping Campbell, but it’s not bad. I look at the Cal Petersen trade as a comp on trading Campbell. It’s hard to gauge how much they gave up to move Petersen, however, I see it as a first and Grans. That’s a little much for Perry in my opinion, but that’s a very small part of the post. For the Hart trade, I think it depends on how Philadelphia values Broberg. They have some good LHD already on the team, so I think you may be able to take him out of the trade. I’m not a fan of trading Bourgault, but if it’s to get a guy like Hart, I think I may do it! I would take him out just to make me feel better haha. Either way, you are not gonna be able to please everyone on this site as everyone has different opinions!

It has nothing to do with what chicago would do with Campbell. It has everything to do with Edmonton and their relationship with McDavid and draisaitl who are pretty close to being ufa's

It's pretty clear to everyone who is paying attention that there is almost no chance either of the big guys leave as UFA's. McDavid is 100% re-signing, and Draisaitl is almost the same. It's only pipe-dream-pushing ACGM nerds who think otherwise.
