Nylander only on "third line" for Pitt HBK effect, lets the Leafs have AM, WN, and MM driving 3 separate lines. No impact to his ice time comes from this, Leafs use him on PP, bring him up for shifts and when bench is shortened, PK, etc.

I wanted Kane but with how things have looked I dont think there is a need for him anymore. As adding another all offense no defense just seems like a mistake even if its Kane.

1st line looks good

2nd line looks good

3rd line has been pretty good. Robertson has just been a solid piece there with Domi and Jarnkrok

4th line is now playable and McMann looked comfortable

I dont want to touch anything and potentially mess things up. As while it was a 1 game sample we finally had 4 lines that looked like they could do something.

Now if they had continued to have issues with depth scoring would have went yep hes perfect but McMann and Robertson seem to have made a positive impact and I dont want to take em out yet.

As for the CGY trade yea that probs could be it maybe not who knows. Probs could get away with sending Holmberg over Niemela like we saw with STL where no stellar prospect went for ROR

nah. He's solid but I don't see a path for him to be a majorly impactful player until earliest the last year or two of our contention window (ie. the Matthews contract), may as well use him as trade bait

like 2-3 games of the forwards actually scoring outside of the big 3 and you'd pass up on the chance to integrate Patrick Kane into that mix? I sure wouldn't. Addition or not I can almost guarantee today's lines won't be Game 1's lines.

If we look at the bottom 6 rn since the call ups

Gregor-Kampf-McMann 1gp 2 goals 3 assists.

Robertson-Domi-Jarnkrok 4 gp 4 goals 7 assists

I know, but one little hot streak vs. a fundamental issue this team has had both earlier this year and for at least 4-5 years now has been depth scoring, and Kane massively helps that. There's over 60 games left to figure out the chemistry.

In general

I think they got something and while sample has been small both Robertson and McMann have looked like nice bottom 6 pieces

Robertson 2 goals and assists in 4gp and he and Domi chefs kiss they look perfect together

McMann 2 assists in first game of season and made Kampf come alive. (Small sample but still)

Scoring has really not been an issue for this team its been defense. Dont get me wrong would love Kane but adding him could mess up the chemistry we may have finally achieved. Like we just got Domi and Bertuzzi somewhat going. Cant afford to potentially bleed points

What this team needs is defense or more defensive forwards if they are looking to add up there. Kane is a solid offensive guy but if we look he wont get pp 1 time here and yea may end up being a problem like we saw at the early stages of Domi and Bertuzzi. Its a wait and see I guess as if he agrees to league min sure if he wants 1.5m NTU

Maybe you don't understand the severity of the issue before this 2-4 game little hot streak of depth scoring, literally 70%+ of the goals were coming from Matthews and Nylander alone

If Kane is signing somewhere within the next week or so and wants to come here for cheap, there hasn't been enough of a sample size to trust the depth so greatly to say that you wouldn't be adding Kane (57 points in 73 games last year, 92 points in 78 games the year before)

In general since the changes they have gotten results. But still there issue is not scoring its defense.

Pk is almost dead last and 5 on 5 defense has been ew.

2 guys getting goals tells us nothing besides hey they good

JT has 6 goals Marner 5 goals, after its 4 from Knies and Jarnkrok, 3 from Bertuzzi, 2 from Gregor and Robertson, 1 from Kampf, and assists from Domi and McMann

Getting PP1 time or just being good often helps with scoring goals or putting up point. Like at this point while there is a chance he could contribute we may also see the same issues we saw with Bertuzzi and Domi early on. Where the defensive issues were present and they werent producing enough to silence the critics. And Kane has been one of if not the worst defensive forward in the NHL.

If he agrees to league min and to rotate in and out (like Kessel) than maybe its fine but I just dont see it. And he wants to be an everyday guy so if he struggles we cant take him out without pissing him off.

Cause with the limited cap we got and other factors focus should be fixing the Dcore

Kane isn't signing with Toronto, And he sure as hell isn't signing for 1 x $1,050,000 when Buffalo just offered him between 2 x $3,500,000 to 2 x $4,000,000 he's training in Toronto because it's still close to Buffalo.

You’re infamous on this site for being wrong pretty much all the time so 🤷🏻 maybe Kane will join the Leafs. He’d look good on the 3rd line 💪

Hes not made for the third line and with 2 other all offense no defense guys it would not go great

Jarnkrok being there is pefect to add some defense and versatility

In general Kane just does not fit with this team for the main reason of hes an all offense no defense kind of guy and offense is not this teams problem rn

What they need is Dman
