You are so absurd. You have 30 guys in here all agreeing with OP and me who make logical well thought out arguments and here you are with random conjecture. Just get off. 2nd ever Ignore List member. Congrats bud!

Maybe slightly hungover, but absurd no, that’d be you kiddo

By the lack of likes you get, I don’t see many ppl around here who would ever want to agree with you, that’d just drag them down to your level and seem as silly & dumb as you are coming across in this thread and every other I’m sure

You just puke your opinions and random lists for everybody to interpret somehow. Do you think we can read your mind or something!? I mean most of us are on a higher level here, but we’re not friggin mind readers

Yes, you tuck that tail of yours and go run and hide and hit that ignore button instead of standing up like a man and offering any form of reasoning or support to your random I don’t know what to even call your posts, which lack any meat or anything of actual substance… oh yeah, complete waste of time

You’re just so adorable, I sincerely wish you well. It’s a cruel cruel world out there. I’m sorry I triggered you. I hope you find yourself a safe space where you can rock yourself to sleep in a corner with your thumb in your mouth or wherever you like to stick it. Adios!

You brought this on yourself btw. Might want to spend more time in the minors son, this here is where the adults and big boys play

It's going to overwhelmingly be a buyer's market.

Bolded guys probably aren’t on market…or at least I would be surprised if they were.

              Especially Josi

But I agree with you on number of buyers is low…they can be selective. The other factor working against some of the sellers is the relatively low amount of cap-space league wide. Injuries happen, which can change this, but if trying to move a $4m dman today…aren’t a lot of teams that can fit that. A guy like Seeler might get more that expected due to his low cap hit…while higher AAV guys might return less.

You’re just so cute. That’s a huge generalization right there

Let me educate you a bit. Forwards typically play at their peak between 23-29yo (it’s progressively gotten younger through the years, as it’s a much faster game these days)

DMen & Goalies, on the other hand, typically take a bit longer to develop (fill out their bodies, build up their strength and increase their Hockey IQ and Play Reading abilities), so they usually don’t hit their prime playing days till they’re 25-27 and usually don’t start falling off till they’re 32+.

I mean look at guys like Chelios, Chara, Giordano, Burns and so on. Dmen and Goalies can still be quite effective till they’re 38-40 years old, so yes, 28 is still considered Young for a Defensemen and Goalie but not Forwards

All the research I have seen is consistent with this. Wingers hit prime earliest…around 22…and they prime goes to late 20s. Centers arrive a little later…and stay in prime a little longer. Dmen develop late.

But the caveat is that most of that research was done 5-10 years ago and the league has gotten younger. And just anecdotally, it appears that skilled dmen are arriving a little earlier.

              I offer a truce @fangm

I’m only trying to have a little fun and like to hold ppl accountable and push back when I feel I’m being pushed on. I’m sorry and I didn’t mean anything personal by it. My apologies

I appreciate the work that you did to get these comparables, but these are all low-end comparables. Zadorov was 2nd in the league (!) in 5v5 goals for dmen last year. His 14 even-strength goals were probably more than the career goal totals for most of the guys you mentioned. Not to mention his size, physical play style, and unbelievable skating ability for his size. Not saying he's some elite top pair dman, but he's certainly better than 90% of the guys you listed (guys like Nemeth, Megna, Prout, Jack Johnson, Jordie Benn are not even comparable. . . These guys are career #6/7 dmen). He's also great analytically (this year he's our best dman by xGA/60, CF/60, and CA/60). He's worth more than a 3rd for sure. Will he get much more than a 2nd? I'm not sure, just because there are many sellers and few buyers. But he's getting at least a 2nd.

One of the things Calgary fans also don't see to get is that its a heavy Buyers market.

Who is actively looking for a D? Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, Dallas, Minnesota, New Jersey?

Thats 6 teams looking for D. Who is for sale?
              Zadorov
              Tanev
              Hanifin
              Weegar?
              Murphy
              Zaitsev
              Lybushkin
              Barrie?
              Carrier?
              Fabbro?
              Josi?
              Peeke
              Ruuta
              Knyzhov
              Stanley?
              DeAngelo
              Pesce?
              Skjei?
              Chatfield?
              Krug
              Faulk
              Scandella
              Bortuzzo
              Bouchard?
              Kulak?
              Ceci?
              Sanheim?
              Seeler
              Staal
              Bogosian?
              Myers?
              Wideman?
              Savard?
              Klingberg?
              Timmins?

It's going to overwhelmingly be a buyer's market.

Yeah, I don’t disagree, why would NJD pursue Zadorov when they have Bahl, unless they think they’re contenders and he’ll make a much greater impact and be more of a difference maker than Bahl or Smith

I would hope you agree Zadorov >> Bahl/Smith, but regardless, it doesn’t make sense for NJD to pay the assets it’s going to take to acquire Big-Z as long as they’re on the outside of the Playoff Picture looking in 👀

We’re in no particular rush to move Zadorov, if we move him, it’ll be on our terms and/or sorry to be so repetitive, but we get an absolute beauty of an offer we’d be silly and simply can’t turn down.

Not many 6’6 250lbs Dmen out there that can Score 14 Goals or 30-50PTS in a season, especially given 20:00ATOI + PP Time. Unlike these horrific comps and MTL’s Vhiarot and CLB’s Savard, Big-Z’s just entering his prime and is still getting better

I think Zadorov will be overpaid for.

I don't think he's a good target for NJD. We have bahl, who's much younger, cheaper and sligthly worse, and even him I'm not keeping long term tbh, would be interest in moving/replacing if someone is willing to overpay for the big human.

Yup, definitely form an opinion on the one and only game you’ve ever watched Zadorov play. In your defence though, you’re not the only one doing that right now

Zadorov definitely hasn’t played as well since his Agent through him in front of the bus with his Team, Coach and Management

I’m putting this Trade Request nonsense on his Agent entirely and not necessarily on Zadorov at all, even though I know he was frustrated contract extension talks got put on hold and he was hoping for more minutes; especially given our PP, Hanifin & Weegar were struggling at the beginning of then season and he was playing good at the time

              OK relax we'll keep watching!
His skating looked like that big kid who doesn't understand his body. I only say this bc Cal fans said how smooth a skater etc he is. I was a bit surprised. When their next game?

Sorry, just super high and defensive of Zadorov these days, didn’t mean anything personal or to be rude about it

Yeah Big Guys look far more awkward,l given how long those limbs are and the fact they don’t need to move them as fast, they just use longer strides, but he’s effective and yes, he can skate & puck handle the puck on the ice well. Whether he looks smooth, meh, sometimes, especially when he ends up making a nice pass or roofing it top corner, but he also misses the net high or loses the puck as soon as he enters the offensive zone a lot too

Next game is Wednesday @7pm MST against NSH who are a Big, Physical Team, so Zadorov should be very engaged in that one and may even drop the gloves

Friedman said the move from Milstein was prompted by Zadorov. No agent would do that without a player asking, it would be career suicide.

Yeah it’s possible, but I don’t believe that one bit, especially after hearing what Zadorov had to say himself about it afterwards, saying it was his Agents decision to put out that tweet (insinuating he didn’t ask for him to do that), but that he supported whatever his Agent did, because he hired him and believes his Agent is simply looking out for what’s best for him (which I don’t believe either)

Good on Zadorov for being loyal to his Agent I guess, but I repeat, I put this rumour 100% completely on Dan Milstein and his shady negotiation tactics

I'd buy that more if Zadorov didn't trash his own team in the media consistently in the 2 weeks leading up to it.

He took ONE moment to publicly apologize to Flames Fans for how poorly they were playing and chalked it up to a couple players for seemingly being selfish and playing as individuals instead of a cohesive unit or for one another like a Team should

That’s not stirring the pot or saying he wants out, that’s a Leader holding his Team accountable and trying to send a message to play more as a Team and for each other instead of focussing on their individual selves and personal situations

English also isn’t his primary language, so give him a bit of leeway in terms of which expressions and words he uses
