<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Buffalo is not going to give you a 25-30 goal scorer, a very high 2nd, and a 3rd for a 33 year old D man on an expiring deal who is injury prone. I like Tanev as a player, but that's not a deal Adams will make. The Sabres' 2nd round in 2023 and Olofsson 50% retained for Tanev and a 2023 3rd or so could realistically occur. I could even see a world of a straight up Olofsson for Tanev deal. Keep in mind Olofsson is significantly younger and doesn't have injury history</div></div>

Then you aren’t getting Tanev. Tanev gets a 1st+ as a rental no question. He’s so underrated and would be the absolute perfect fit to partner with Power and help him bring his game to the next level like he did with Hughes in Vancouver and Kylington in Calgary. Calling him a 33 year old injury prone defenseman is just silly. How about a top-10 defensive dman in the league (both by the eye test and analytics) with great mobility and puck skills who has proven to be an elite partner/mentor for young up and coming dmen? If he were to be on the market he’d be the 3rd best dman available (behind only Pesce and Orlov).

Olofsson+high 2nd would be fine value, but the Flames just don’t really need Olofsson and would probably just go for the highest pick available, and the Flames sure wouldn’t be sending a pick back the other way. Olofsson for Tanev straight up would be an easy no from Calgary. I don’t see a fit between Buffalo and Calgary for Tanev because the 13th pick is too much but the 2nd is too late. I see Tanev being held til next deadline and going for a 2024 1st and 3rd

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>There are better UFA options if we want a one trick pony offensive dman, and we dont even need one since Hanifin was excellent post Sutter. As said above, there's no way he waives anyways. Monahan is also definitely worth more than him too.

Moving Valimaki after 1 subpar rookie season is a horrible idea. I do like Garland and would be happy to add him but moving Valimaki to do so is foolish</div></div>

Lol I love how you never post your own threads but just rip other ppl's apart consistently. Also you have an EvolvingHockey acct, check out how effective Fowler is offensively according to the numbers on a legitimately awful offensive team. He's definitely a fine LD2 and is not just a one-trick pony, although I agree he'd never waive to come here so point is moot. Who'd you rather? Jake McCabe? Ryan Murray? Think you're sleeping on Fowler, he was incredibly effective as a puck-mover back when Anaheim was a playoff team and had some decent forwards. I also think Monahan's value will only continue to lessen as he inevitably gets demoted away from Johnny/Chucky but you thought him for Larkin was a lateral swap so clearly we don't agree there lol.

As for Garland, he is exactly the type of 1/2 RW we need imo. As was Buchnevich. Definitely worth 1st+, maybe Valimaki is too steep but also exactly the type of guy we need and now that we lost out on all of Garland Buch and Reinhart we're running out of options. I'd love to hear your ideal off-season plans? How do we get one of those prime-aged RW's that we desperately need without paying up?
