Here Flames fans we fixed Monahan for you

Description
I know Flames fans will have a hard time believing it, but Monahan's hips are fine. This is the 2nd year of his hips being 100%. Last year a freak puck broke his foot. But he's healthy and he's awesome again.

You can have him back if you'd like!

Edit: One important point... Flames cannot trade any of their picks. The Habs insane super pick ties up all picks for the next 3 years until the preconditions are met annually. So if they want to buy, they have to buy from Montreal.

Love Monahan. Trading him before he even got to skate again was stupid. He clearly would have rebounded. Then signing a 32 year old to a 7 year deal... Oof

As for the trade, there is a 90% chance Montreal is already getting Florida's 1st and I would even be open to trading Hanifin to the Panthers to help guarantee that

I don't think you're correct on that. A lot of conditions on those picks and they seem to say that if we don't own one of the picks you're supposed select it gets pushed down the road.

I mean... 1 injury to Tkachuk or Barkov in 2025 and all bets are off. But all things remaining equal, I agree with you that they get that pick.

You think the Flames can turn the season around? With Hunt and Zadorov, it looks bleak.

Hmmm. I don't think you can trade a pick with a condition on it. I don't know enough about the CBA though. Can any friendly cap-ologist help?

Edit: From my research in the past 5 min, it seems like the league would veto any trade that put the conditions of the previous trade at risk. So no they cannot trade those picks until the conditions expire or are released.

So they cannot trade their 2024 pick, unless they do it in a way where they say, in the condition it goes to the Habs, you get this pick instead.

Im gonna say no they can't. But it has nothing to do with Zadorov (Hunt is in the AHL, not sure why you bring him up). Only way Calgary turns it around is if Huberdeau gets going. Zary has got Kadri moving again, maybe when Pelletier comes back Huberdeau will find his game again

Yeah, I'm not certain either but there is a lot of wording pertaining to us not owning the pick. I don't know where they could possibly go without trading them.

Depends on the condition but the pick Tampa recieved in the JT Miller trade had a condition and was still traded to New Jersey.

As long as there are conditions that follow the rules of the previous trades conditions it is possible. Florida's pick has conditions on it

I can't believe Hubie's decline. Something is off with the Chemistry. The game he played for years in Florida doesn't decline in 1 season.

Friedman talked about it in 32T. He thinks its because the West is so heavily north-south hockey and he played a primarily east-west game. Huberdeau loves his spin passes but they just don't work in the west for some reason

This is the same reason I think Dvorak is better suited to the west, he played his best seasons in Arizona of all places. The East vs West is like two different leagues, the West is north-south in-your-face hockey, the East is more east-west technical (for lack of a better word lol) hockey. There are some teams that make it work like Colorado but for the most part they play two different styles

If you've watched the last 4 Habs games... Monahan has had a goal refused for an offised 35 seconds earlier, has made unbelievable passes to... linemates who could not complete and has now hit the post straight up 2 games in a row.

Not only is he almost a point-per-game, but watching him play the last 4 games, I'm thinking he could easily, EASILY have 3 points more, making him... the actual leader in points on the team, while winning faceoffs like a monster AND not having the best linemates.

If I'm the Habs, it's becoming a no-brainer at this point; if he stays healthy all year, you extend him 4 years. No trade.

I have a bad feeliing about Huberdeau's career trajectory... he had hit a magical 2-3 seasons in Florida: comfy over there, comfy with linemates, friends, pressure... I have this awful feeling that Huberdeau might never hut 70 points ever in his entire career.......

Colorado is a very north south team. Thats MacKinnon's entire game. Obviously being able to adapt to both is important but I think thats the root issue with Huberdeau's struggles

He just needs to adapt to the different style of play in the west. In the east he could essentially skate directly up ice and enter the zone without any real pressure. And then set up a play. In the west you don't have that kind of time so you have to find different ways to make space.

Outside of the antics his game isn't all that different from Tkachuk's. Both are below average skaters and generally make the breakout pass from the sideboards. In the o-zone they are different though as Tkachuk parks himself right in front to cause havoc and redirect shots where Hubby is the playmaker on the half wall. One of the things Flames lack is that outlet pass for Huberdeau. Gaudreau was always that guy and Lindholm can't be when he's playing as the 3rd defenseman
