I wouldn’t bother with Demelo and would give more of an increase to Holloway but not much. Overall some things here I like more than dislike. Good job overall.

This is a prime example as to why Edmonton won’t have to pay as much as people are constantly suggesting it will take. Campbell buyout is very doable for anyone including Edmonton.

Damn... a Campbell buyout is really not that bad... especially with the expected cap increase.

I think you've nailed the solution.

6 years on the books is doable for Edmonton, even rebuilding teams don't want someone on the books that long.

That's an awful long time to pay someone to play for another team, and it's a hell of a risk that he won't bounce back with his new team and win a cup before the Oilers do. It's much more palatable to trade him to a rebuilding team who even with a good goalie isn't likely to win a cup before the contract runs out, rather than buy him out just to have him sign with another top team and win a cup.

Crazy that he got a 5 year deal in the first place. Further proof that Holland should just retire.

I hope Campbell does bounce back for another team. Not rooting for his career to come to a crashing end. It hasn’t worked here and he’s had plenty of opportunity.

Yeah I get that, I really do but there is a huge difference between trading picks to a rebuilding team and paying him to play for another contender. Buying him out is an option, I just don't see Oilers management liking that option. Campbell himself won't care too much since he can sign with another team for like 3 mil and still not be out money and his new team gets him cheap but really it's the Oil who lose the most since they would have to pay him for 6 years to play for another team. TBH, I think the Oil should look at paying a 3rd team to retain on him that way they get assets back and out of the deal and a 3 mil Campbell still has value around the league IMO

With his save percentage over the past 2 and a half years I think after a buyout best he can hope for is a 1 million 1 year prove it deal. He struggled mightily for a large part of his final year in Toronto that doesn’t help being 2 teams in a row. Maybe if Edmonton retains half then gets another team to retain half the remainder maybe a team like sharks would take him for nothing.
