The leaf fans who want him think any defenceman from any team that hits sometimes is going to save us. Those fans are also idiots

With Boston playing well, you expect them to blow up the right side of their D by trading a core piece for a guy over 30 AND throw in more assets? This is not about "which player is better now", this is about team identity, team building strategy, and maintaining a steady ship. Boston is no longer desperate for C help.

You can trade for binner but blues aren’t taking Campbell back without a lot of incentives tbh

That or a lot of retention

It's no mystery Binnington is the much better goalie but it's also clear he put up a .885 SV. last year (or smth close but it was under .900) while being signed to 6 million for 4 more years. Now he's had a hot start and the Blues will probably want to move on from him to sell high. His contract is also bad but it's clear he's more of a sure thing than Campbell.

Since Binnington's contract isn't too hot either I'd expect that taking him on would off-set some of how much it would take to dump Campbell. 2 1sts+ a B prospect should be enough to dump him while taking on Binningtons deal.

I understand the reasoning on not liking the move but you can't call me crazy for thinking it was a viable idea. I understand why Boston wouldn't wanna do it now but Nuge is a 2C on most teams in the league and Carlo is a top-4 RD on most teams as well. Considering either teams needs the swap makes sense but obviously due to Bostons success there it would be no reason trying to mess it up

You can’t have Campbell be a cap dump while also “taking on” a contract imo

If you’re trading for binner blues will want a good price for him. Probably at least a first. I also think dumping Campbell will be a little more than a first rn
So while this is close I think you need to switch Borgualt to a first as well

It simply does not make Boston a better team. Makes them worse. Creates a hole they can’t plug internally to plug a hole they don’t have. Zacha & Poitras are just fine in top 6 roles, 4 other centers in the lineup every night. Middle 6 centers are of no use to them currently.

Be happy to add him, but not for Carlo.

RNH NMC means it’s not likely anyway,

A move like this takes some serious cajones. We rarely see these kinds of big trades of players with term anymore. But I think the big issue is that EDM has a surplus of excellent forwards, but Boston does not have a surplus of excellent defenders. They have a great defense, but if one of those core pieces goes away, then it goes back to average.
