If you want Willander + a 1st then Andersson would be one of the players the Canucks are acquiring

If we bottom out now, we probably end up helping Montreal more than ourselves, considering they have our unprotected 2025 pick.

you are paying for cap space my man, if Vancouver hopes to bolster their lineup they will pay through the nose because they have no cap space. in the above Calgary is taking back 2.25mil on top of Myers to make the trade work. Calgary could possibly take on even more cap from Zadorov if some of the other trades went through.

they are already bottoming out. get the assets while you still can otherwise these guys are gonna leave in the offseason and we get nothing or they panic sign them all and we suck for the next 8 years

Allvin has shown he won't deal 1sts for "cap space let alone 1st+willander otherwise Garland and Myers would be gone already.

I don't disagree but committing to a rebuild and potentially giving Mtl a lottery puck is going to be a bitter pill to swallow.

We're gonna suck for 8 years regardless of what we do.

Problem is, CGY (and every team only have 3 retention spots), you've used 4.

I think the PHI proposal I had for Lindholm was better value for CGY, unless you're a huge believer in Miles Wood (No retention and Frost, FLA 1st 2024, and a midlevel prospect like dmen Helge or Attard or Ginning).

Cant see VAN taking 2 UFA dmen based on what they're expected to be this year, maybe you get that return from a contender, but not VAN

And while getting back the picks is great, theres areal problem here. You dont have tons of cap space, maybe 15mil, but just 2 dmen under contract in 24-25 and 10 expiring UFAs/RFAs, most of whom aren't coming back. Ultimately if you're looking to play the kids, why take back so many UFA veterans (especially so many unwanted/overpaid/flawed ones). You've got 3 kids in your bottom 7-8 forward slots that you'll probably keep or resign, but thats a pretty weak bottom 6 if you're adding 4 bargain basement UFAs or having a 1st pair on defense and youngster Solovyov, but no one else? Its just too many holes.

Maybe trading for younger/possibly better players under contract? You've traded 6 players but only acquired 1 player under contract in 24-25.

Toronto accepts but you know you can only retain on 3 players right?

The 25 pick has a ton of protections

Conditional]*
*Conditions: 1. If CGY’s 2024 1st round pick is between 20 and 32, MTL can take that pick instead. Result: TBD

Scenario: In the event CGY receives FLA’s 2025 1st round pick:
1. If both CGY AND FLA’s picks are NOT top 10, MTL will receive the better of the CGY and FLA 2025 1st round picks. Result: TBD

2. If CGY’s pick is top 10, AND FLA’s pick is NOT top 10, MTL receives FLA’s pick. Result: TBD

Scenario: In the event CGY does NOT receive FLA’s 1st round pick:

Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is NOT top 10
1. MTL will receive the CGY pick, and
2. If FLA’s pick is not top 10, is a better pick than CGY’s, and was transferred to another team due to prior conditions, MTL will also receive CGY’s 2025 4th round pick.
Result: TBD

Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is top 10:
1. If CGY’s pick is 1st overall, MTL will receive CGY’s 2025 3rd, and the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick. Result: TBD
2. If CGY’s pick is 2nd to 10th, MTL receives CGY’s 2025 1st round pick. Result: TBD

Food for thought. With Cogs likely to retire this summer, LOC could be forced out with expensive extentions taking priority and a lack of remaining truculence. Wood isn't someone the Avs would trade for a pure rental. Unless Lindy wants to sign something in the 6m range, even then RJ or RC would have to also be moved.

Everybody that would want your UFAs is capped out. You're taking cap back regardless and no team is giving you significant assets just because you are. The Canucks did it with Beauvillier last year

Firstly the pieces from COL are wrong. It wouldn't be Wood they'd be moving after just signing him. Secondly they would have to move cap out. A LOT more cap. That's assuming they re-signed Lindholm and they shouldn't be interested in him as a pure rental. Thirdly there is the question of whether they really need to do it. I think RyJo is adequate for their needs so far, so I'd question it from that PoV as well. So I'd say it's a no from the Avs.

I want lindholm as a pure rental. This isn't a pure rental trade.
