Vanecek had a very rocky playoff performance last season, and has been terrible this season. Gritsyuk isn't anything extravagant either.

Pretty sure there isn't a Preds fan alive who considers Samsonov a positive asset either. While 99% of the Saros to TOR proposals that Leafs fans come up with are junk, at least Samsonov is a UFA. Vanecek is a cap dump to NSH that still has another season on his deal.

Havent watched him play but hasnt Gritsyuk been putting big numbers in the KHL for 2 years now? If Nashville is committed to a rebuild Id definitely do this, goalies generally have lower value and Askarov is on the come up.

There isn't really a reason for Nash to undersell just for that reason. He's a top 5 goalie in the league, and we could retain as well.

Vitek has been fine after 2 rocky starts early. -0.7 GSAx, and saros is at 0.7 GSAx. If you want to use sample sizes that small, than saros has fallen off significantly too

Colossal difference between a goalie trying to carry a team in retool/rebuild vs a genuine contender. Saros would have a .930 on the Devils. If you want to look at GSAx, Saros was 46 last season, lol.

It's not specifically about sample sizes and more about the package just not being enticing. Vitek has never been all that great and if we're moving Saros, it's not like Vitek gives us a ton of value.

Yes and vanacek was 15 last season. Like I said you can choose to either use larger sample sizes from last year, which say vanacek is a quality starter, or tiny sample sizes from this year which say saros is a decent starter but nothing special

Honestly a very good trade offer for 97. I'd remove Seamus for Nemac or Hughes.

Realistically, though NJD would never trade him, the swap in that would be made would be nico for someone. No point in having nico be 3C

McDavid, Hughes, Nico and Cloud as your center options would be insane.
