Avs dont really need another winger but the sell here is partially getting out of Manson's contract. Garland would also be a viable replacement for Landeskog if he's out long-term.

Retention to make it work capwise for Colorado, and also since Garland's contract is backloaded salary wise whereas Manson's is front-loaded. Retention thus balanced the actual dollars a bit.

He produces at 5v5 even with bad linemates. That could make him a nice fit on the 3rd line, especially if Vancouver retains a bit.
