You're totally ignoring context, though. In the event ANH was shopping Zegs they would look for a blue chip young roster player who can be an eventual replacement. This is something Boston doesn't really have. Nor does Boston have an high tier center prospects. He just meant Boston doesn't have the assets to fit Anaheim's needs and you got upset because in reality, they just don't.
And nobody is giving up that young blue chip NHL player for Zegras, unless you are talking prospect. Quite frankly i don’t think Ducks would be looking for prospects. They have one of the best pools of young talent already and with MacTavish and Carlsson their center position is set long term.
I’d think they would be looking for established NHL level talent in their mid 20s, guys that can step right into the lineup and will still be there 3+ years from now and still in their prime. No risk of being a draft bust.
Then there is the matter of his contract. Sounds like wants 7+ m on this deal. How many teams can currently do that. 3. So most likely a trade would involve salary going back to Ducks. They’d be better served if it was talented salary as opposed to dump.
I never said anything about Boston’s prospects or lack thereof.
I’m not upset or mad about it. It’s just always a bad take regardless of who it is said about. Now if the Ducks say “we want a premium C prospect and an NHL LD that can QB the PP”…yup Boston does not have that.
It’s all pointless anyway. Zegras does not have much leverage yet, they are not trading him unless they are blown away.
