1- Gibson has been bad for 4 straight years now
He’s not the right guy to bring stability to our net, he’s the opposite at this point. It’s been a long time since he’s put up good #s, and is just way too risky- especially considering what the Ducks would want for him

2- Zegras is a good player, BUT he just brings more of what we already have- good offensively but doesn’t play defense.
If we were building an AllStar team he’d be a perfect fit, but we should learn from the Leafs & build a more well rounded team that can win in the playoffs

I’d pass on both Ducks players

No interest in Gibson. The Ducks would just be thrilled to be out from underneath that contract, never mind getting quality pieces in return too. I’d be OK with this trade if we took Kulich out of it. Zegras could be redeemable, despite the fact that he doesn’t know what backchecking is.

You twats done with that tired old line yet? The analytics don't back you up on it. Here is HockeyViz's chart on him. JFresh also has him as neutral defensively. Not good, but also not bad. Cozens and Thompson on the other hand, they ARE bad at defense.

This is why I’m “AntiAnalytics”
Bc ONE CHART doesn’t DEFINE a player
And xGF & xGA doesn’t tell the WHOLE story
Just misused & overemphasized data

Here’s some more analytics for you to look up,
& broaden your horizons

https://andy-rono.com/
Where Zegras is given a grade of 11/100 for his defensive play
And this site takes into account WAY more than just the ONE METRIC you seem to be basing your opinion on

And btw,
u can make your point without being derogatory
It’s just not necessary

1: it's a projection for the 23-24 season.
2: they gave Cozens an 18 for defense, and Thompson a 9, yet you don't hear us crowing about how they suck defensively or don't know what a backcheck is.
3: JFresh also has Zegras rated at ~46% defensively. So again, while he's not a great 2 way player, he's also not a defensive black hole. JFresh gave Thompson a 9% and Cozens a 26%, for reference.

Idk why u keep bringing up Cozens & Thompson’s lack of defense like I’m saying they’re good??
What I’ve said, is that we don’t need another player LIKE THEM
Zegras is talented offensively & bad at defense
He’s not the kind of player we need

Sorry if you’re butthurt by that for some reason

I don’t have an issue with Gibson, I think he’s a workhorse on an awful awful team, especially defensively. My issue with him is the contract. Because of the contract, he doesn’t add much value to a trade, in fact, might even lower the value of a Zegras return unless Anaheim retains.
On a better team, I think he can be a solid goalie.

I somehow get a hunch though that when Adams traded Lybushkin to Anaheim, that he wasn’t the only player they talked about. I think Gibson might be a plan B if the young goalies don’t work out because he wouldn’t cost a ton to acquire.

As far as Zegras though…..I somehow get a vibe from him that he would really mess up the chemistry in the locker room. You traded away one type A personality in Eichel who was entitled for another, granted he won a Cup, but he went to the right team, and right city for him. It was fit. Zegras is an NHL A lister, who hasn’t really earned that status quite yet, although he’s a very good player. He has a Pissy pants attitude and may rub some people the wrong way in the Sabres tight knit locker room. So, it’s intriguing, but I’d pass, along with the cost to get him and sign him.

If I’m giving up premium assets for a big move for a forwards, there are better options to pursue, one being Clayton Keller

Gibson hasn’t been good for years- AND the contract isn’t great
The last 4 years, when Gibson has had under a .900 save%, he’s had a backup EVERY SINGLE YEAR who has had better stats than him

Especially with that contract, it’s just too risky, even if he’s cheap to get- which he won’t be.
We have in fact talked to the Ducks in the last about Gibson
Almost had a trade worked out till Gibson said he wouldn’t waive to come here

He’s not “plan b”
Adams wants players who WANT to be here
It’s not happening
