brown is horrendous and not worth Lafferty straight up and that's an absolutely insane over payment for max jones who is, at best, a younger Lafferty and a significant downgrade from Jarnkrok

Jones is an interesting PC in my eyes-- but not worth a fellow bottom 6 player (even if you want to dump his contract) and 2 decent prospects. Add on the the fact that Jarnkrok likely doesn't waive for a bottom end team (currently) and it's all for not.

I suppose these other moves are just alternatives to attempting to pass through waivers... ?

I'm personally of the opinion that Jones is on the verge of a breakout year. He lost his age 23 season due to a torn pectoral and while the numbers werent there this year, everyone's numbers were depressed in Anaheim. He was passing the eye test for sure dusting off some of the moves he used to do in Jr this year when he got some top line time with McTavish and Terry, and was working well with that line.

Yeah, he's never going to be a Tkachuk, but a 40+ 2nd line complimentary piece is in the cards I think.

It's definitely possible.... still too much to give up for that "potential"-- There's still potential that Robertson becomes a legit 2nd line scorer, and Minten projects as likely a middle 6 C further down the line.

I think he will have very high potential as a power forward if he stays healthy. That is the reason I offered some of the Leafs top prospects in return plus if Robertson stays healthy, he might win you the trade himself. IMO

We are offering the same with “potential “. Hoping Robertson stays healthy and Minten hopefully becomes an NHL top 9 forward.

Definitely not making a statement about the trade, just my POV as an Anaheim fan, I'm excited to see what he does this season. I know Robortson is Uber skilled, but the poor kids been under the knife a lot for someone his age and already has a history of concussion issues, I question if he ever truly sticks around the show. As to the other prospect, that doesn't really do anything for the Ducks, we have a lot of those already in the system.

I really don't get where a lot of fans think he's suddenly worth a high mid round pick. He was picked up 25 games ago for a 4th line forward, in the AHL, who was signed for free. 25 games of incredibly sheltered minutes hasn't suddenly restored his value to that of a 3rd. Whole reason he got 1.1 was to allow him to be sent down without another team trying to claim him.

Hard pass on that Ducks trade.
Any trade that involves both Minten and Robertson better have a top 4 defender coming back.

I see Joshua Brown as a tougher, bigger Bertuzzo, cheaper Gudbranson and cheaper, bigger and younger Luke Schenn. How much worse then those 6/7 dmen do you think he is? Or are you comparing Josh Brown to Cale Makar? Having a 6'5" 220+ lbs dman available for some of the tougher games would be nice depth. Not for a speedy, versatile bottom 6 roster player who plays with an edge and a prospect but a 4th RD pick would work.

well if you're comparing him to gudbranson that tells you all you need to know. Gudbranson isnt an nhl player. he's below the level of a replacement level 7th defender. He's also worse, by a fair margin for a bottom pairing defender, than either bortuzzo or schenn. He's bad, he's a guy you have as your 7th defender if you have no other choice, especially since he makes 50% more than one of the dozen bottom pairing league min guys who will be on waivers in the next few months. The Leafs, and most other teams, have at least 2 guys on their AHL team who could swing in and do better than he would and him being tall and mean doesnt make him worth it because hes a liability
