Description
Defense- Mtl has a absolute pipeline of dmen clawing at a shot at the nhl theres so many poised to 4 dmen that the role doesnt need to be established

Center- Mtls center depth is good with suzuki dach newhook beck but can they turn into smt nice so for now the roles are full

Wingers- MTL has no wingers except slaf and caufield who are poised for top line role and elite, mtl has wingers in pinard and ylonen who r bottom 6 wingers and possible top 6-9 forwards in heineman roy mesar and farrell so thats where the need to add, elite underachieving targets such as.
-kakko
-texier

Goaltending- mtl sees monty as there future starter but at the same time its a gamble and ur hoping hes the future but hes 26 yrs old might only get 5 good years outta him so the only goaltending depth is fowler, dobes and primeau and i dont see any of them as elite starting goaltenders or even a higher end.
Elite goaltending or high end starting targets
-wolf
-pekka luukkonen
-kochetkov
-Askarov

I kind of feel like if they go after a goalie like Askarov now, a good chunk of the 2023 draft was pointless. They had the chance to get Askarov at the draft and chose not to. I dont see that avenue opening up again.

NYR arent moving Kakko for that. Guy hasnt lit it up but hes getting better every year. Habs probably have a better chance at Laf to be honest. If at all.

Texier..... Elite? Dont be fooled by a couple one hander goals. Guy is decent but nothing close to elite. Certainly not worth the offer you gave. I would much rather give Mesar, Roy, Heniemen, etc the reigns than acquire Texier for that cost.

Man, that’s a lot of LTIR.

Also, imagine trading 21-year-old Carey Price for a top-10 pick. That’s what this feels like.

Columbus waited patiently and supportively while Texier dealt with personal tragedies in Europe the last year. He wasn't over there for underperformance or politics, and the team is excited to have him back. I'd say he's pretty much immovable currently. And even if the relationship had soured or Columbus wanted to continue to look bad in the league, that's a bad offer for him.

Since the offer at the deadline, there has been no news that NSH is even remotely shopping Askarov. I was of the opinion during the draft that NSH trading Askarov was a bad move, even for 5th OA. While there is no doubt that landing someone at a high of a pick could have changed the franchise, Askarov has that potential already being the next goalie in the line of strong NSH goalies. NSH obviously wanted someone badly enough at 5th OA in the 2023 draft, but now that door is closed and NSH is not going to be opening it likely ever again.

this team need more high end center talent than winger. dach and newhook played more the wings than C so they sre not sureshot center. suzuki can grow, but if he only ends being a 70 point guy, we need anither high end C.

We need to give our goaltending prospects a chance. Dobes and Fowler are where I'll hang my hat for now. Monty is a stop gap for the time being, nothing more nothing less.

And honestly we don't have a superstar C either so we could definitely use one of those which would push Dach or Suzuki to the wing and would be a clear top 6 wing at that.

I'm sure it is but we can fill the ranks with complimentary players. Elite C's are needed for cup wins, we don't have one. Just keep acquiring assets until we can get one imo.

you would get more pts and goals with anderson and hes 50% retained for 4 years
kakko is also a goal scorer and anderson in 3 seasons with the habs has more goal in kakkos career
your looking at playoff value for a strong team not potential, yes kakko is getting better but anderson is more build and scores more and has playoff experience, kakko hasnt even hit 20 goals yet or more the 40 pts, lets say he break out 30g 30a 60pts ish then u have to resign the guy for a huge contract but thats a gamble on his potentail and future value

Keep trying to cope with Andersons garbage contract because he's a garbage player.

garbage player getting 7x5.5 is rare unless ur somewhat good, and 2.75 for 4 years for a 25g 3rd line scorer who can play up and done the lineup is good and good value for playoff team especially when ur 2nd overall pylon doesn't do much at all

if people consider zegras elite then suzuki is elite hes the better player, and think of every elite player did they spend most of the development with ahl players? im sorry but last 2 yrs mtls been plagued with injuries and hes still keeps improving, also why does everyone rank suzuki top 5 in redraft if hes not elite

You say "2nd overall pylon doesn't do much" then why do you want to trade for him? And at least he's had more than 32 points in the past 4 years. Also insane 2way game.

People consider a lot of things and much of it is irrelevant. I believe Suzuki is a great player, but he is not elite imo.
