Trade doesn't make a lot of sense for Sens.

Even with taking Joseph back, we got no cap room for Lindholm. So we'd need to dump another player. That means Sens substract 3 players from their roster (at least), including a young cheap center, for one year of Lindholm. We aren't paying 8-9M to retain his services.

Not seeing how this benefits the Sens this year or in the future.

Edit to add: I think the value is fine, it's just that Lindholm doesn't fit with what the Sens need, nor do they have the capspace to make it work now and in the future. Perhaps another team that needs a high end center would be a better trade partner

Disclaimer, I am a Leafs fan and it hurts me to say this.

I look at the Sens with the amount of assets they have and the value of their contracts and I think, this team is ready to compete and should be making a big time add for this upcoming season.

The thing I hate is that I don't know where you would need to add...

A top 4 of Chabot, Cych, Sanderson and Zub with Brannstrom and JBD waiting in the wings...

Stuetzle, Norris and Pinto down the middle...

Tkachuk, Giroux, Greig and Joseph down your left side...

Tarasenko, Batherson and Kubalik down your right side...

That group of skaters is unreal and I absolutely hate it. I really thought you guys would be all in on Saros or Helle, but if Korpisalo pulls through then lookout...

Good post

Value would only be « fine » if Lindholm comes with an extension, which we can’t really afford like you said. It’s also not really what we need to do, can’t have 3 first line centers lol

As a sens fan, I’d probably go after Backlund before Lindholm, seems he would fit better at 3C and would be cheaper to acquire

Certainly the Sens don't have the cap for Lindholm.....hardly the cap for Pinto
Leafs don't have the cap for Hanifan or really the need for a LHD.

SEA likely declines. Between Daccord and Drieger the backup spot is pretty secure, so SEA doesn't need a backup.

As a rental?

Because that'd mean you already have to move Pinto to the wing. All of Stutzle, Norris and Pinto are made to be Centers. We're already going to use Greig and Ostapchuk on LW, and both are centers too. Can't see Backlund not playing Center too but agreed he's the type of vet I'd like to add when the time is right

Kinda cool that these 2 ex-Sens prospects are Seattle's backups

Yeah preferably as a rental. Think Backlund is a perfect vet to have on the 3rd line who can play up in the Top 6 if any injuries happen, so we don’t have to force Pinto up again this year! And more so a deadline acquisition too than a start of the season thing!

Yeah but the Center argument? Too many Centers!

He turns 35 in March and is UFA after the season, maybe we could sign him next summer but then again, Center is too crowded. Gotta target the same kind of player from the wing... UNLESS he'd be good mixing up with a guy like Pinto on the same line

I’m more of a proponent of you can’t have too many Centers, they can easily play wing if needed but wingers can’t always have play C. I’d just have Backlund either play Wing or have Pinto move to wing! I just think he’s such a solid two way guy that can help Pinto develop his skills further, and would definitely help if we were to make the playoffs with his experience!

Ok I wouldn’t be against it, having Backlind short term to mentor Pinto could be great… but Giroux is already there too, could mentor both him and Greig

The only problem I have is how do we acquire rentals? We have pissed away so many picks already

Not only we spent 7th OA + 39th OA + 3rd on DeBrincat (but got back a conditional 1st and a 4th) and 12th OA + 2nd + 2nd on Chychrun, but we also squandered 2nd + 3rd + 4th + 7th to get rid of Zaitsev and Murray contracts. We also totally wasted a 10th OA pick on Tyler Boucher and a 2nd on Ben Roger. Plus if you go back a little, you find out that we wasted a 2nd on Derek Stepan or that we let Anthony Duclair walk for nothing as a RFA.

Or what about 24 y/o Gustavsson for 35 y/o Talbot? Or Connor Brown for a freaking 2nd? Nick Paul for Joseph + 4th, and we might spend more soon to move Joseph's contract?

I could go on and on and that's the problem lol

2021 was the worst draft they’ve had. Ostapchuk is really the only piece that’s worth anything. What a waste haha I was all on the Wallstedt wagon lol

I didn't want to draft a goalie with that 10th OA pick but if I knew we were going to waste it away on Boucher, then Wallstedt would have been more than fine
