I don't think Columbus would trade their captain. He brings so much more than any of those pieces would right now. I also believe they want to get better, not continue rebuild. It would take a massive overpayment in my opinion.

I know Detroit doesn't trade a good, young winger for a 30 year old, and I doubt Columbus gets rid of a center.

Why?

The last thing DET need is another C in the same caliber as Copp/Compher/Rasmussen/Veleno. I don't think CBJ accept either.

Only way they trade Jenner is if his statement about Babcock was a lie and he actually wants out. I could see that being the case.

Can’t see any of those centers as 2C on a playoff team. I’m no pro scout I believe I’ve heard a lot of praise for Jenner from former NHL players.

Because none of the current centers on the team are really suitable for 2c on a playoff team.

None of that entices Columbus to part with their captain and longest tenured player.

I agree, but Jenner isn't an ideal 2C either. I think his game is best suited for 3C, a position where he's one of the best in the game.

I mean hey man if 3 rookies in the middle six can get the job done this year then scrap my plan but so far those guys are ifs

And you think Jenner is? Because I don’t. He’s more of a 3C in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t like the Copp signing last year. While I like the Compher signing, you’re still right in him not being an ideal 2C for playoffs.

Jenner is good but if we get him, I would actually see it as they would have 3 third line centers, +Rasmussen who’s also 3C material, albeit not as good yet, but will be better

This is in the future not this season. No reason to get another C this year and have it be Larkin-Copp-Compher-Jenner-Kasper-Veleno-Ras fighting for C spots on a team not making it to the cup.
