Doughty plays 28 minutes a night against the best competition in the world and has barely missed any games. He's the #1 defenseman on a close-to contending team. And nobody would want him? Please.

Looking solely at the Oilers, Drew is better than every single defenseman on that team right NOW, not even considering what he was in the past. And it's not particularly close, though I do like what Bouchard is becoming.

There's no doubt Drew is not the best defensemen in the league anymore. And I agree he's probably overpaid by about 2 mil. But to say no one would want him, or that he's only worth a 2nd round pick, is pure farce. If there was a realistic way to get Drew away from LA, if he was willing to waive his clause, and if LA was willing to part with him, all 31 other teams would be putting in an offer, if only for "due diligence" that comes with the job description of being a GM.
