Without 800 k retention TB isn't interested in DeSmith and I get Montreal isn't interested in using it's last retention spot on DeSmith so Canadiens fans . Stop TB isn't screwing themselves into deeper cap hell to help you dump DeSmith FULL STOP.

You could ask 3 other teams to retain 50% each and end up only paying something like 27K, which is about your current cap space.

But Montreal is not one of them.

There are too many goalies unless Montreal is planning on carrying 3 . Which makes it a dump type situation I'm not saying your giving up assets but your also not getting prime pricing on DeSmith right now either. DeSmith doesn't return more than a 4 IMO
