Man that Caps trade just made me puke. Taylor Hall is not worth half that, not in 2023.

Hall isn't worth that much, even with retention. But I doubt the Hawks trade him at the deadline this season and disrupt Bedard's rookie season like that. Especially if they have the type of chemistry your post implies.

I think the Avalanche offer is reasonable at this time, assuming Raddysh repeats last season’s production. If he makes another sizeable jump in production, the price could go up considering his incredible cap hit and the fact that he will be an RFA after this year.

The Capitals proposal is steep at this time however, if Hall has a rejeuvenated season on Bedard’s wing and is producing around a point a game then it probably isn’t too far off given the retention and taking back Mantha as part of the deal.

Come on guy - read the above comments from Caps fans. Don't be that unrealistic lol

But yeah - Caps obviously say no - thanks for the laugh this Thursday morning though

Well the comments provided by Caps fans were so insightful:

“LMAO Caps obviously pass.”

“Man that Caps trade just made me puke. Taylor Hall is not worth half that, not in 2023”

Damn those are irrefutable arguments!

Furthermore, did you even read and remotely try to comprehend what I posted? I very clearly stated my agreement that the Caps proposal “is steep at this time” however, since the thread is titled “At the deadline” I provided conditions which Hall would need to meet that in combination with other variables in the proposed deal; retention and taking back a bad contract; could make it seem more reasonable.

As for the laughs, well I will leave that to you and your very informed and insightful posts.

Have a great day!

Even in the unlikely scenario in which Hall is a point per game, Washington isn't going to move the equivalent of 2 first round picks for him, no team that realistically has a ceiling of 3rd in the division is. Miroshnichenko is the Caps 2nd best prospect and a very high value player for them, and realistically if Washington is in a playoff spot, one of the main factors for that would be Mantha returning to form making the trade unnecessary.

The Caps won't be ahead of New Jersey or Carolina in the division, and adding more money into the next offseason when Sandin and McMichael become RFAs is shortsighted at best. Either the Caps are too far out of the playoffs and they have no need to pay such an exorbitant price for who is such a streaky and unreliable long term player, or they are barely in the playoffs and they do what they've done in seasons past and made small moves (2022 for example, only moves where Johan Larsson and Marcus Johansson). There's really no world in which giving up a high ceiling guy like Miroshnichenko and another 1st round pick in a trade makes sense for Washington.

So without knowing how the upcoming season will go for Raddysh & Hall it is difficult to determine what their market value will be. With that being said the package coming back from the Caps is not appealing to me at all. Mantha is a VERY VERY negative asset. He admitted to being benched last year because the coaching staff didn’t like his work ethic. I don’t want a player like that anywhere near the Hawks prospects. Maybe his hiring a mental coach will help. With Ivan there is the Russian factor to consider & that will hang over him until he shows up. If the Caps want Hall at that point they will be in a playoff position, so the pick will be in the second half of the 1st round.

I don’t disagree with anything you said, especially with the context you added.

My post was merely response to the offer proposed, At the end of the day I can’t see this deal happening because quite frankly I don’t think the Caps are very good and are closer to a rebuild candidate then they are a cup contender. They should hang on to their young players and draft capital.

Before any butt hurt Cap fans respond, yes as a Hawks fan I know they suck, we all do which is why we have embraced the tank and rebuild.

Until that 2018 wjc report comes out, I would avoid all of the CHL players from that team.

You'll get a 2nd and Damian Riats NHL rights for Hall and you'll like it.
