For a 40 goal PPG forward in his prime? I think the Habs end 11-16 with Nylander on the team, maybe even push for a wildcard position.

Dach, Guhle, and an unprotected 1st? To me that is way too much. Do you have any comparables to defend that value?

I look at the Kevin Fiala trade from a few years back as a good comparable. Guhle and the 1st is already more than LA paid for Fiala. Higher 1st, Better Dman.

The issue is the Leaf's are looking to win now. This trade does nothing to help them right now.

Seems somewhat reasonable for both sides except like Kous mentioned, only makes sense if Guhle was already a solid improvement of their D and/or they had another move ready to ship out those assets for a big upgrade somewhere.

I think this is a valid point, but I would argue that Guhle is a bit of a quick study and would quickly make your top 4. He's very young, but you don't get to be Captain of team Canada at the WJC without having something special.

Put concretely, he will surpass McCabe and Giordano by January. He defended McDavid, Matthews, and Crosby last year and while he didn't shut them down completely, he did not look out of place.

That being said, the improvement on Defense, does not make up for the loss on Offense. But who are you going to get for Nylander that is going to do what Nylander does today?

How has Guhle's development gone and would you think an NHL team like the Leafs will be interested? BC if yes... Then I think the Leafs do this and exactly what I would want from a Leafs trade. If Guhle's been struggling, I think you'd have to replace him with someone else who has

Kane, Tatar, TDL etc. There are def. some ways they can not downgrade as much... They'll get more from Matthews, Domi can play a top 6 role, Bert's going to score more than 8 etc. They need to get younger and this trade does that for them as long as Guhle development is staying on course

So the Leafs do this deal in a heartbeat... And I could argue the Habs do it too... This is prob. the most reasonable Habs for Nylander trade I've ever seen from a Habs or Leafs fan

Looking at point totals, they are not that far off. Fiala was traded 2 years younger as well, which generally gets more of a return, not less.
