  1. Clang, Calle
  2. Choix de 6e ronde en 2024 (ANA)
Détails additionnels:
Danforth and Robinson only go in the deal for the 6th if anahiem wants them and is in position to get a WC spot or playoff spot. The added depth for the push and playoffs will be beneficial. Anaheim allowed a ton of goals last year, I offer Peeke as a reliable d-man who stays healthy and is consistent. He has spent time on all three of our lines and performs to the level of responsibility given to him. He would be a big pickup in my mind for anahiem at a fair price. For Peeke, we need a pick early third or to broaden the G depth.
2.
CBJ
  1. Howden, Brett
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Brett Howden will lineup well with CBJ for the remainder of his time or can be traded for a pick or in a package. Jack brings more points and helps VGK try to defend its title. Brett is the chip to make the deal work money wise for VGK but the price for JR is a 3rd on top, especially since we are keeping salary and taking on Howden next year as well.

I like these trades for the jackets, but I really don't see Vegas moving Howden after how well he played this past year.

Anaheim will give you a 3rd for Peeke

We aren’t trading our top goalie prospect and we have no want for a couple AHL guys

I wouldn't hate a Peeke for a 3rd trade, but his analytics were just brutal last season. In part that was him getting thrown into the fire on a bad CBJ team playing way more minutes than he should but it's also that he just isn't that good. He's an OK third pair guy with a 2.75 cap hit and three years of term. That contract sucks for what he is. He compares a lot to Simon Benoit in my mind and that is NOT a good thing.

There's a reason why Columbus brought in Severson and Provorov to push Peeke out of the lineup.

I agree that I’d far prefer a 3rd for Peeke. But if they were adamant about getting back a goalie prospect I back this isn’t an absurd request by any means

Ducks won’t be competing for anything other than the lottery this year though, I’d leave the other two players out

Absurd ask? No. One the Ducks are in a position to grant? Also no. I watched all our goalie prospects at camp and Clang is the only who who stood out as "good". Next season he is the AHL starter and #3 goalie, and there's no one in the system I trust to take that role in his place. The new kid Clara has huge upside but is clearly a long term project prospect.

Howden last three seasons, Points 20,7,23. He has had good playoffs, but that doesn't really mean much if you can add a 40 point guy in JR, who you would suspect trends upwards even in the playoffs from howdens numbers.

You have Lukas Dostal, John Gibson, and Alex Stalock. No way Stalock signs to not play even AHL games, so Clang isn't going to be your third. One of the three aforementioned is. 2nd, you got clang with a third and Peeke is definitely worth a third. When or if you move JG, you're going to get a haul. I think Peeke for Clang is more than fair, that being said, Ill take a third as stated above several times.

When I said next season I was referring to 24-25, I consider 23-24 to be "this" season. After Dostal in the pipeline no one is even AHL ready for a few years outside of Clang. Gibson isn't moved until next season at the earliest due to cap issues and Verbeek not wanting to retain on 4 years of salary, and Stalock is a patch piece, happy to have him, but he's not around for long. Clang has the AHL starting job for a couple of years without anyone really able to challenge him until they take some strong developmental strides.

Don't disagree, but don't overlook Buteyets. He's got another year on his KHL contract and Madden has said the plan is try and bring him over when that expires. He's 21, same age as Clang, so in terms of development they should be good rivals for playing time. Clang will have the advantage of already having a year in NA though.

Yeah it's not always about points, I mean he really helped in the playoffs to win a cup. I'm not saying Roslovic isn't a better offensive player, Howden just plays a much more physical and heavily defensive game. Two very different players, Vegas has enough offensive guys so a guy like Howden is useful to keep.
