This team is still not better then Tampa Toronto and Florida

Take another look at the Florida defense without Ekblad and Montour (both out long-term).

I would argue our team is worse than it is currently.

Joseph + Kubalik + 2nd >>>>>> Tatar.

Florida had only 6 more points than us last season. This year we have a healthy 1C in Norris returning, 1D in Chychrun, top 6 winger Tarasenko, starting tendy Korpisalo.



Theyre not cap compliant so one of jospeh or kubalik has to go regardless

Joseph gets traded before Kubalik does then.

Why? Kubalik likely scores more goals than Tatar does next season.

All fun and games until you get a couple of injuries that are not long term.

This team is already 2nd in Atlantic in my eyes (would be 3rd behind Florida if Florida was fully healthy to start the season). Korpisalo proved he was the real deal last season, and is going to take this team to new heights over a depleted Boston, blue-line plagued Florida, and a Tampa team that went negative in the second half of last season. Acquiring Tatar should lock them in for a guaranteed second place finish over Florida.

Joseph was basically the return for Nick Paul (who was the main return from Spezza trade)

Kubalik was the 2nd piece from DeBrincat return (and we invested 7th OA + 39th OA and a 3rd in him)

AND we'd pay a 2nd to DUMP their contracts...

Just trade Kubalik and be done with. Problem with this team is NOT offense. Not sure why people are desperately trying to add more recognizable names offensive players when we haven't even changed our 2 biggest weaknesses yet : coaching and management.


Joseph is a better ES and PK player than Kubalik and there's no spot for Kubalik on the PP

Joseph's cap hit is higher than Kubalik's, his contract lasts until 2026 and he hasn't really lived up to it.

And Kubalik has never played for Ottawa before.

That's the crux of why I see Joseph as the odd man out.

I see but it's only 0.495 more and cap shouldn't be a problem after this season... Kubalik would also cost more than Joseph's cap hit to re-sign

If Joseph gets back to his 2021-22 level, he's more valuable than Kubalik
