Odd men out
Cap Dumps
Reclaimation projects
etc...
Taking some cap dumps, offering cap savings and bringing in/calling up young guys and stockpiling picks. Its about giving second chances to some guys with upside and using PHI cap space.
Three late picks for Carter seems alot but none are 2024 draft, and PIT needs cap and this is the easiest/best way
Seeler is probably worth a late in the round 3rd, these are future picks in 5th and 6th, probably not enough, given his hard nosed approach and good metrics.
CBS needs to move a RD and Bemstrom seems odd man out, both are these guys are 24 yrs old or less and have upside. Laughton is a two way, leadership monster to help guide the youngsters with his 35-45 pts and grit.
UFA Lindholm wants out, PHI has cap space to resign him and need a play making 1st or 2nd line center. Couturier is looking healthy, and maybe not 70 pt selke form, but if he starts to practice and look good, 50+ pts and two way play, signed long term at 5mil to slot behind Kadri is a good fix, instead of an expiring UFA who wants out and will get 8 on open market
Sanheim is a big pill at 6.25mil, but if he reverts to 21-22 form hes the perfect LD for Power on 2nd pair, the FLA 1st could be real good if they come back to earth. Joki seems to be odd man out and tricky as a expiring 2.5mil RFA who has lost his way. Krebs is probably looking at 3C at best in BUF, with Savoie arriving on the horizon. Very roughly, Sanheim equals Joki and the 2nd, FLA 1st is Krebs and 2 4ths.
Drury needs a change of scenery, CAR gets a rugged winger with hands and a solid D prospect
Ottawa gets needed cap space, 1.5 this yr and 3mil the next 2 for a suitable replacement who is younger
VGS gets alot of cap space and gets a suitable replacement who can play both sides
CHI gets a rugged winger to protect Bedard, Deslauriers is slightly overpaid, but played extremely well last year physically and PK and can skate regular shifts.
Overall its about playing the young guys Philly already has in Koneckny, farabee, Foerster, frost, Tippett, cates, Andrae, York and Hart, with solid vets. But adding and giving (second) chances to drury, krebs, bemstrom, Boqvist, and Jokiharju to develop further with good balance throughout lineup.
Also having ample cap space and good expiring contracts when the current RFAs need resigning.
All the while not blocking the futures of Gautheir, Michkov, Bonk, etc...
And stockpiling picks to address weaknesses, prospect failures, or future trades.
Obviously not all (if any) these happen.
Taxi squad is best of prospects in AHL, not Gautheir/Mitchkov/Bonk/etc...
It seems more like other fanbases are making Boqvist into a castoff for the Jackets. The CBJ fanbase seems pretty split/leaning in favor of keeping him around.
You can honestly drop 25% of the returns to be in the ballpark.
- Sanheim + Couturier are both going to have to show a full season of pre-21/22 type play to get these returns. So you’ll have to wait a year. But also if you don’t get a strong bounce back you’re probably going to have to add sizable sweeteners to deal either.
Drop Sokolov and the 4th
Change the CAR pick to a 4th
