Aging core? Matthew’s, Marner & Nylander are 26-27 🤯. What a completely uniformed take 🤦🏻
If you read carefully you'll note that I said that the Leafs have one more real shot at a cup, the 23-24 season.
Assuming Treliving can keep the guys the band together, ahead of the the 24-25 season Matthews and Marner will be 27, Nylander 28, Rielly 30 and Tavares 34. That's kinda old.
Also, like I said before, Matthews and Marner will have gotten some serious raises by then and Marner due for another the year after further complicates the Leafs ever persistent struggle to find consistent depth scoring throughout their lineup.
And, again, as I said there are no current core players in the prospect pipeline that I can see. I like Knies a lot but he projects more like a complementary guy to the top 6 than anything else to me.
Latest research on the topic of aging in the NHL suggest that
players on average peak at ages 23-25, is that informed enough for you?

Window is almost shutting down, 1 year left for a shot at the cup, aging core.
Very interesting takes you have here.
See above, think it speaks to your point (don't mind the snark though it's not meant for you).
