If Manson were regularly healthy, the Canucks might consider it. He's just too risky if not playing ~70+ games each season.

If he puts up numbers like he did last year he will probily be looking for 5+ mil on his next contract and i think with our history of rotating in cheaper backups and giving them a shot we'd have to let him go and give someone a shot, Vladar is really just the first one who was a decent age i thought might be better with a stronger team

Brother, is it not a red flag you are relying on SIX ELC players to make this work? Chances are at least 2 of Foudy, Oluasson, Malinski, Behrens, Annunen don’t turn out to be full time NHLers

Who are the 6? i count 3 in behrens, ritchie and olausson. Foudy is on contract 2, meyers is on contract 3 annunen will be on contract 2. Also it's not like im asking a bunch of 18 year olds to make a jump. Ritchie is 20 and will be the youngest, the rest of the guys are 22-24 range and if they're not going to start playing in the nhl why are we keeping them around. We also have just shy of 3 mil to add 2 veteran presence like i mentioned in the description so that covers the 2 that don't turn out to be full time nhlers. what else ya got?

Entry level players. Who cares if they are 21 or 22. You’ve got all these guys with close to no NHL experience, not proven at all, slotting into full time NHL roles

Man this is 3 seasons from now, a few of these guys will see a good amount of games in 22-23 and the rest will see some 23-24, i assume we have our usual veteran d depth like JJ for a league low playing 3rd pairing so there goes one of them already. Plus like i already mentioned 3 mil of space with whatever amount gets sent down when we add another player. If we can't develop 2 or 3 guys out of our system to play depth pieces then we are doing something wrong in drafting and developing.

i don't really understand what that list is? players who didn't pan out in colorado?

I mean greer just played 61 games on a team that set the regular season record so he must be doing something alright to stay up.
Jost found a home on another team again.
Kamenev wasn't drafted by us he was picked us as a b prospect in the duchene deal, and bowers came in that trade but didn't really hit and neither did kaut.

What are you trying to prove with this? that we can't develop?

My big thing is if he comes in and plays as good as kuzmenko(i've heard him compared to him) he will probily be asking for more money than we can afford. Now if landy doesn't come back we'd be able to bring him back but this is where it gets a little murky cause if landy doesn play again we're gonna be spending 7 mil on a guy who hasn't played in 3 years so who knows the type of player were getting back with him frown

OK, so you assume he prices out here.

Evan did a video breakdown that shows he's more of a playmaker than goal scorer, who has a physical edge. He scored a lot on the PP, but the Avs first PP unit is full. It's likely he slots into the 3rd line both this & next season. Teams pay for goals more than assists. Combined with being an RFA & I expect he maxes out at $4M on this next deal.

It's possible he becomes a true top sixer, but a lot of things would have to go right.

Yeah i don't know much about him at all, i think it would be great if he could play top 6 next year and gives us a cheap option to rotate around with but even on 3rd line i'm sure he will still be an asset.

Well, the Avs just traded one of their youngest players (Newhook) in order to add an older one (Colton) that was more expensive. They had their reasons for doing that but what it shows is that they don't really want to play younger guys unless they "pop." Meyers and Kovalenko (when he arrives) were developed elsewhere and will get a lot of leash because they're older even if, as in Meyers' case, they don't play particularly well. So, they have no players on their team that they drafted lower than 10OA which is what it is but they don't seem all that interested in getting their prospects onto the Avs in any capacity. The only guy I could see possibly breaking that cycle would be Ritchie but he's going to have to have a hell of a year in junior then show he can do the same in the AHL after that if he's going to get a whiff of the NHL with the Avs.

I don't see them giving a real shot to any of JLF, Olausson or Behrens unless they're really turning heads in the AHL. Malinski had a great start when he got to the Eagles but tailed off so they've probably lost interest at the moment. If he's going to get a look, he'll have to greatly outplay JJ in camp and even that might not be enough; he may get an injury call-up if he's playing well in the AHL but he'll have to be a monster for them to keep him up. Annunen might get a chance to be a backup next season but that's 50/50 at best IMO.

One more thing to keep in mind with the Avs alleged "development"system": by all indications, they don't have any urgency to give their prospects prime playing minutes in the AHL. They get pushed down the depth chart by career AHLers just to win a few more games which, I get to a point but it stunts their growth and pretty much ensures they won't be able to show out the way the team wants them to if they're going to give them NHL games. There just seems to be very little interest in getting them NHL games unless they have star potential which means the Avs aren't going to graduate many guys onto their own team and will overpay for veterans to fill out rosters spots young guys could have filled.
