Giving up a premium young roster player that could be doing that in the near future who is cost controlled past Connor's contract, a premium blue chip prospect that's a teammate of the player they just stole at 13oa, and a first on top of that? Doesn't seem realistic for the sabres.

If I were a Sabres fan I would be very, very hesitant to trade Savoie. If Connor were RFA at expiry like Meier, maybe negotiations could start here, but even Meier didn't fetch Holtz. With their window about to open and Connor not having significant term, this is not a move the Sabres should consider.

Stillman was over drafted, but I am not ruling it out as useful NHLer. He can play agitator role for us.

Fourth liners need to be competent players with niche utility. McLeod has faceoffs and PK and is great defensively. Bastian is elite defensively and can play netfront PP. Foote has upside. Nosek has faceoffs and PK.

Stillman not only has no niche utility, but he has not shown he has the skill to be worth putting on the ice. I frankly don't give a rat's ass if he can play an agitator role. It's 2023, not 1993

Don’t look only at point totals…an ELC who plays a heavy game game off 4th line can be useful.

I have seen him too…watched a couple mid-season around when he linked with Othmann. And watched Memorial cup. He makes impact on game.

My expectations are low, but I think the hate from some Devils fans is unnecessary. Nate Bastian wasn’t any better at junior level.

Like I said on the Bastian comp, they looked the same in D+1, but Bastian made the AHL D+2 and looked good there, whereas Stillman stayed in the OHL and didn't improve at all

Bastian didn’t “make AHL”, he got aged out of CHL (December birthday). Canadian junior league players cannot join AHL teams until after their seasons are over or if they are coming from NHL… and even then, it’s only allowed for short stint and only when they are hurt and rehabbing or have been healthy scratch for five straight in NHL. Very tight rules. Stillman joined the AHL team at end of D+1 season, but had playoffs and Memorial Cup in D+2 season.

If you want to make a larger argument about the role this stuff plays in hockey, fine. Personally, I would want more skill, speed, talent in the hockey I watch. But the reality is that this exists, and we ought to have guys who can play that style if we want to be a top playoff team. And I look up and down our pipeline and don’t see many like Stillman. So would I want to play that style? No. But do I want to be able to respond if that game is forced upon us? Yes.
