As much as I'd love us to get anything for Campbell, that's a cap dump and a half we're giving at least a first for you to take that contract lmao

I would give Campbell a chance. When an appropriate pick or picks are provided. That EDM 2024 1st is a needed starting place.

Totally agree, I proposed on an earlier thread that for the Hawks to take Campbell and his $5m hit for the next four seasons would cost Edmonton a 1st round pick and Holloway.

I'm not sure EDM would do that. Holloway is likely part of their now team. Maybe Xavier? I actually think Campbell is better than Mrazek. I'm not 100% sure how much more beyond a 1st well get. BUT the 1st is definitely required.

That does happen but then you also have the potential for a goalie to get traded and never regain their winning form.

In Campbell’s case, with what is owed to him over the next four seasons, I am not gambling on him without a solid package of picks and/or prospects coming with him. I’m sure as hell not trading anything of value to acquire Campbell.

They may not but I’m not gambling $20m over the next four seasons unless the return package is really good. I look at is a similar situation to when the Hawks had to include Teravainen to get rid of Bickell’s contract.

I think it's a little bit different. I don't believe buyouts were allowed back then as a part of regular business. The Hawks literally HAD to make a trade. EDM just wants to make a move to become a better team. EDM has ~$5.6M in cap. Bouchard might get a 1 year deal. It's not ideal for EDM in the long term, but they can probably make it happen.

Depending on the deals that Bouchard and MacLeod sign, Edmonton may very well have to make a deal to remain cap compliant.

Decent comparables for both are Byram (for Bouchard), who signed $3.85m and Kurashev (for MacLeod) who was awarded $2.25m. Those numbers put Edmonton over the cap.

Having said that, I don’t see Edmonton trading Campbell, I think you would see Foegele or Ceci traded first and I would be ok with the Hawks taking either if the pick(s) coming with them are good enough. That would be a 2nd with Foegele and a 1st with Ceci because he is signed for over $3m for two more seasons.

Honestly, I see Campbell bouncing back next year for Edmonton.

1. Over his career, last year is a very clear outlier.

2. His 2nd half was so much better than his 1st half ( a point highlighted by is playoff numbers)

3. Wouldn't be the first player to struggle in year one with a new team.

I simply don't believe Holland would have any interest at all in moving Campbell at this point.

They can get traded, and bounce back, but that trade is laughable for Chicago. Also that Kane contract is a joke. 4 years at 9.7M for a guy that will only play 2 more years at probably only 2M value would be deserved for how good he would be?

I don't think you know who Foegele and Ceci are. Both are positive assets and have very cheap cap hits for what they bring.
