It's not really about the player in this scenario. It's about the value of taking on the $5M cap hit. With so many teams currently over the cap and the lack of teams that can take on that amount, the value to move Myers cap hit costs quite a bit. I think Davidson is playing the long game waiting for teams to get desperate enough to overpay. Time will tell.

The point of Myers not being good enough for the Hawks to be interested in taking him on, with out being compensated for doing so. Yes, Myers is better than Tinordi, but not enough to move the needle. So why do the Nucks a favor? They overpaid him, they can keep him.

When the DOC signing takes place it opens a 2nd buyout window for them to be able to buyout any cap hit over 4 million which Granlund falls under. His penalty for this year is 833K so with a 5 mill cap hit that frees up 4.177 mill in cap space for the season.
