I liked DVO when was w AZ but he’s a bit overpaid for what he is - a solid 3C/PK guy
With that contract don’t see a 2nd as the price closer to 4th because he has two years left

Fair market value to dump Murray is probably a late 2nd or early 3rd (not a first and a prospect)

So it costs a 1st+ to dump 1 year of 4.68M Murray, but you get a 2nd for dumping 2 years of 4.45M Dvorak?

Since Toronto fans are okay with cheating to put Murray on LTIR the other 31 teams should cheat and collude against Toronto so that nobody trades with them and they aren’t cap compliant to start the season

Stop using logic... It's clearly Toronto that he has an issue with (seeing that he consistently comments on Toronto posts negatively despite being a Flyers fan) and is angry guys like Laughton and other 4rth liners aren't getting 1st round picks

its crazy, this guy thinks that there is only 1 team interested in having the leafs pay for matt murray, there are countless reports for teams who are only asking for a 3rd along side him

I honestly think Murray's just going to sit on LTIR... it's the best for both parties and the league won't cause a fuss bc Toronto doesn't intend to use Murray like Tampa or Vegas did with Stone/Kucherov.

It would also explain why Sammy isn't signed yet, bc the Leafs don't have the space to do so yet, just waiting until they can dump the Muzzin contract gets moved w 5th for a 7th and Murray to sit on LTIR or the start of the season, where, they move Murray and Muzzin on LTIR and sign Sammy

    Called it BTW

So it costs a 1st+ to dump 1 year of 4.68M Murray, but you get a 2nd for dumping 2 years of 4.45M Dvorak?

Small point of clarification: Murray actual salary is 8M, 6M of which would have to be paid by whatever team took on the dump (unless the Leafs did some retention themselves). A team taking on the cap dump probably isn't up against the cap, so the AAV is meaningless. So the cost to dump is more likely based on actual salary.

Dvorak, a 3C at best, is making 5.75M for two years. If he's being dumped, ain't no way they are getting a 2nd without 50% retention being part of the deal.

Samsanov isn't signed because they went to arb (apparently they were 2M apart from $ amount). Once the ruling is in, the Leafs either have to accept or walk away, if the salary is high enough. There's no "let's wait a few weeks and move Muzzin first before we sign". If they accept, a new buyout window opens where the Leafs can buyout a contract to become cap compliant.

Sammy's arb date is July 21rst 2023... 2 days ago... The Leafs are roughly 10% over the cap, the maximum allowed but with the use of LTIR (which opens 1 week before the stricter cap comes into effect), they can slide Muzzin and Murray (and if that gets denied; Sammy himself) onto LTIR and sign Sammy to what the Arbitration person dictates for Sammy's next contract

Yes, his ARB date was Friday, and the mediator has 48 hours to return a ruling, i.e sometime today. By ruling, it's the terms of the contract. There's no "let's negotiate salay bonuses, etc". The only thing that is up to decide is 1 or 2 years. Per clause 12.5 of the CBA, the terms are binding and non-negotiable (except for 1-2 years), and the sides will "promptly sign an SPC" after the ruling. 1+ month isn't promptly. This is why a second buyout window opens, where the leafs, if they are over the cap, will be allowed to buyout a contract(s), or trade, to make room for Samsonov's contract.
