I had high hopes for Podkolzin and Hoglander and even Raty . But all 3 look like flops right now

Nah, if there was anything the Kings needed less than a center prospect, it's another winger prospect.

But Podkolzin has shown he can produce in the NHL. Turcotte hasn't even shown he can stick around. No clue why Vancouver would agree to this. The time to try and get Turcotte out for any value was last year. He's been given two seasons in the A and it isn't happening. LA has to hope he's a late bloomer or they are sunk with him. And as an Avs fan I am WELL aware of what it is like to watch prospects go down this way.

Their development was definitely interrupted with the wings they signed. Mikheyev was always confusing to me. It feels like the reigns were handed to Allvin during the season and more clear direction in place.

I hated that Pod was getting 4th line ice time last year outside of his Abby stint. I'm also not sure what it is but he seems reluctant to use some skill out there when I know he has it and a massive shot. It's just MIA.... He needs some confidence.

I'm not out any of them yet. Pod may start in Abbotsford so I expect him to be fired up.

Hog is probably going to be playing with Aman or Blueger and that's a bit concerning. I don't see any offense in Blueger's game but maybe Aman can take a step and those two can have some chemistry. Fingers crossed.

Try to get anything out of Turcotte last year? When, exactly, between the two major concussions he had, would they have done that lol.

Turcotte hasn't been in the NHL cuz of injuries, not due to anything related talent-wise. At least not in any correlative way. This year is big for Turc to show he can stay healthy. He should get time with LA due to less roster depth after the trades of 3 forwards for 1 (PLD trade). Anybody gets injured and he'll be one of the first call-ups.

I'm not saying you're wrong on value, just on reasoning. Turc doesn't have value right now. So the Kings won't trade him at his lowest possible value.

Forgot about the concussions, my bad. But yeah, no value right now. At all.

Raty is 20 years old. Most players in his draft class haven't even stepped foot on NHL ice. Raty has as a 2nd round pick. Podkolzin and Hoglander have both showed more at the NHL level than Turcotte. Turcotte is the real flop here. Hoglander is 12th in his draft class in points. He has way surpassed his draft placement. Podkolzin had a rough sophomore season, but is the most likely player to succeed under Tocchet's system

Pod is a TOP LINE WING. In the modern NHL you either grow into your mold or GTFO. Give Pod time VAN. But it’s VAN and they suck at developing superstars properly. I wanted Podkolzin over Dach cuz he 100%. The raw tools are just too much to ignore

For the last time, Podkolzin and Hoglander weren't blocked on the depth chart, they just didn't do enough to earn those roster spots yet. Get your head screwed on tight

Meh that definitely has been a weakness tbh. Outside of Demko, none of our top players were developed through our AHL system. Pettersson was SHL to superstar. Hughes was college to superstar. Canucks don’t have a great track record properly developing prospects. Obviously better now which is comforting, but it’s a big reason we have struck out quite a bit

Blame the previous regime for those shortcomings, notice how I said ANYMORE. Gotta give the new regime 2-3 years before we can judge how good they are, there is a reason they beefed up the organization's player development staff, they haven't had enough time to let their work bear fruit just yet

I agree. I am a lot more confident with our current management group. It just sucks how the transition from old to new regime has messed with Hogs and Podz development. Going throw 3 NHL coaches and an AHL coach with 2 different GMs is not an ideal way to start a career

Hogs and Podz development hasn't been messed up. If it's anybody's fault for their sophomore slump, it's Boudreau's fault for not being able to begin to instill better practice habits and self-preparation, and raising the standard overall in the locker room. Hoglander hasn't even played for Tocchet yet

So would VAN rather keep Garland or Boeser over Pod since his development got messed with?
