As a habs fan, I do love david savard, but samuel girard is just young and good. I would say yes

Change Savard for Evans and Wideman and a 2nd for 2025 and I like it more for the Avs. Avs need more C depth

I don't think MTL would do this, I know I wouldn't. Not because of a value issue, just not a move that helps MTL where we need help.

I don't think the Habs should do the suggested trade; Savard brings leadership and experience to a very young D core. If the Avs were desperate enough to do the Evans et al. trade, then I'd be all in. But I don't think the Avs would

I guess yea. The Avs could sign a C from FA to instead of a trade

Fair point. Fetching Girard would make little sense on its own. It'd have to be closely linked to swapping one of our LD prospects (and probably some other assets) for promising RD or some more firepower for the top 6. Which is beginning to sound like wishful thinking

Montreal refuses because we already have Matheson, Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Struble, Hutson, Engstrom who played left while removing Savard, it takes away a right-hand defenseman, which is already a lack and a veteran while our defense is young and needs veteran.

Lol. Girard also plays the right side. And is better than every single one of those guys. Someone like Guhle may develop into a bona fide top pairing guy, but saying no to this lopsided trade because you already have Arber Xhekaj and Adam Engstrom is bananas.

Avs decline this. It’s a terrible offer and it’s astounding that there are Habs fans here arguing anything otherwise

That’s awful lmao. When is the last time that a top 4
D has been traded for a 4C and a 6/7D?

If Avalanche need center depth, best candidate from Montreal would be Dvorak / Monahan if both prove to be healthy.

I wouldn't move Savard, he's to much useful as veterans in Habs young locker room.
