Description

In 2020 Detroit had the worst record with a measly 39 points. In the draft lottery we ended up dropping from first to fourth overall. I read an article awhile back that said Yzerman was taking Stutzle with the first pick. Now don't get me wrong, Raymond is a good player and will likely develop into a really good player, but he just isn't on the same level as Stutzle. This is just to see what Detroit would look like if we didn't lose the draft lottery.

For the record, since the introduction of the draft lottery, Detroit has never moved up, only stayed put or dropped positions.

I believe Yzerman would've taken Stutzle #1 if we'd won that draft lottery. No doubt he takes him at #3. Yzerman saw quite a few of his games and talked very highly of him. But of course it doesn't matter. Raymond is good. But he'll never be as good as Stutzle in my opinion. ☹️

Truth is we'll never know who he would have taken. its easy to write an article about how he would totally would have taken the best player in the draft if he could. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldnt have.And im not daying its impossible he would have taken stutlze, but we'll never know.

I think he would still take Kasper as we would have been pretty weak at C still. Danielson I doubt though. If we had Stutzle, I would have hoped for Willander and Barlow since Honzek didn't make it to us.

In my opinion we needed RHD and a potential top line LW. Willander and Barlow would fit that bill for me.

Maybe we would've seen Willander+Pellikka.
Personally, though I doubt it, would've loved to see Benson*

*Even though we likely wouldn't of been in range to draft him.

Only luck can save Dorion from himself, believe me, he needs it, a lot of it

Thank Alfie the Sens picked 3rd because he would have picked Byfield or Lafreniere.

That being said, credit where credit is due, the 2020 Sens draft was fantastic. It is a gigantic part of their rebuild. I called it "one of the best drafts in history" in 2021

Stutzle, Sanderson, Greig, Kleven, Jarventie, Merilainen, Sokolov. Even Philippe Daoust could turn into a NHL player if he could get a man's body and stop getting injured all the time, the kid can play.
