Description

Dorion swung and missed with Debrincat, but he can salvage his reputation as a GM by trading for another top six winger and this time make sure he is signed to an extension before trading assets for him.

And we just saw an intra-divisional trade so why not another one? Treliving should look for the best offer that's out there for Nylander. And Ottawa could be the perfect trade partner because they have a hole in the top six they need to fill, an extra first round pick in next year's draft, and good young prospects whom they can afford to part with.

I like Nylander, I just don’t see how Ottawa can fit him under the cap. Also I feel you can probably get more for him, unless there are specific teams he would only join.

I think he'll sign to whomever is desperate enough to pay him 9.5-10 million.

I just think with the new owner in Ottawa there is a possibility for a big move. He might want to make a big splash in his first season and pronounce a major signing. That's what new owners like to do. And with Debrincat walking out the door for pennies, Dorion could act boldly to try to save his job and trade away picks and prospects to make the playoffs next season.

P-L-E-A-S-E! Beyond the fact that this deal would never get made within-the-division, in a crazy hypothetical world, it would take Sanderson + Batherson. Leafs don't need picks, they need big D and replace Nylander in the top-6. Is there a deal to be had there? I don't think Ottawa would want to let go of Sanderson EVEN if that deal was fair.

Wouldn’t mind having Nylander in the fold, him and Stutzle would be lethal! Add in Tkachuk on the line would look great! Think they’d have to move Batherson + Joseph to make the cap work but I wouldn’t be opposed! Can even use some of the return on Batherson to send the leafs way! (Assuming they’re not interested in him). Agree with you, Playoffs are a must this season or DJ/Dorion should be gone!

Ottawa won’t trade Sanderson for Nylander straight up! Value him too much as a two way top 4 guy! Not that Nylander wouldn’t be worth it, just fixes a hole by creating a new one.

Batherson + Sanderson?? Maybe Batherson straight up considering he's locked up for 5 years at under 5 mil and leafs don't have much leverage with 1 year til UFA. The list of players Sanderson would be traded for is very short.
