Nylander, if traded, will cost 10m a year, so teams are going to think twice about it. But if Nylander is traded it only makes sense to get an elite D in return. There is no upgrade for Nylander at wing for 7m a year.
I think Hanifin is going to cost a lot more than an aging journeyman winger and a 5th.
The Ruta trade makes no sense at all, a 32 year undrafted player who is a 3rd pairing in Pittsburg for a 24 year old 32th pick overall who is potential 2nd pairing D? And it adds over 1m to the cap hit? Timmins is likely going to be groomed to take over for Klingberg as a second pairing offensive D.
And if Ruta was able to be a solid first pairing D then Pittsburg would want more than Timmins for him.

Nylander does not need to be traded, it will make the team far weaker. Adding a solid 1st pairing D would be the goal but this is highly unlikely, no one will trade one. Best thing is to try and find a less expensive version of Brodie who has a bit of potential still.
