While that is a solid package, Id probably refrain from dealing Sway to MTL under almost any circumstances, would have to be absolutely blown away with a no brainer package to give BOSs biggest rival theyre (likely) franchise goalie of the future

Actually you are right! But I would give a lot for this keeper and with the rumors that he wants to leave I thought he was the perfect keeper for the Habs. But yes it's almost impossible for this movement to happen 😂

Hawks decline. They aren't taking Hoffman for less than a 2nd.

Hawks got a 2nd last September for Dickinson who had a smaller cap hit and a 2nd for Bailey last week with a similar cap hit but smaller cash commitment for the upcoming season. it will take a 2nd minimum to ove Hoffman.

Though those are good arguments, and I do agree slightly, what must be noted is Hoffman's point totals compared to both Dickinson's and Bailey's. Both were arguably on stronger teams, yet got less production than Hoffman. All of them are liabilities on the ice, but Hoffman at least played better. Dickinson at the time of his trade had 1 more year(this year) on his salary, while Hoffman and Bailey both have just this season. Sure, they all come off the books at the same time, but a dump like Dickinson's is arguably more costly. Vancouver also took salary back in that trade, further exemplifying just how low value he had. Bailey is the more accurate trade comp, however a 3rd and 4th or two 3rds would probably do the truck with many an added prospect with the differences in production between the two dumps.

Fair points.

I will say, I’m not sure why Montreal would want to make this deal at all, it is my understanding they have about $9m in cap space due to LTIR impacts and only Newhook of real significance left to sign.

they wont because we dont need the space this year and we can send him to laval and lose no assets....we would like to move him but we dont have to move him..... all they would do is retain salary and if no takes it ... he stays and probably gets sent down to laval
