1.
TOR
  1. McTavish, Mason
  2. Zellweger, Olen
Détails additionnels:
McTavish can jump into the 3C position and put up 40-50 points. Long-term his ceiling is likely as a 2-way 2nd line center putting up ~70 points.

Zellweger is a guy who could replace Mo in 2-3 years. Likely says in the AHL for now but a nice add to the prospect pool.
ANA
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
  2. Murray, Matt
  3. Nylander, William
  4. Robertson, Nicholas
Détails additionnels:
Other than Zegras nobody Anaheim has really screams top scorer. Nylander has already had a 40 goal season and would likely be the leading goal scorer for the ducks for the next 5-6 years. They are going to need to start putting good players around the young core.

Ducks have lots of great D but they are all LD, Lili easily becomes their long-term 2RD maybe even their top RD in future.

Robertson going off what Mirtle said has the trade value of around a mid 2nd round pick. Seen as high upside but high risk. He can immediately jump into the lineup for the ducks, maybe he becomes a long-term top 6 guy or maybe he can't stay healthy and is out of the league soon.

Nylander comes with 8x$10M extension.

Upside for Ducks is a 40 goals scorer, top 4 RHD and top 6 winger. Downside is 40 goal scorer with 5/6 D.

Murray is just a cap dump although he does have better stats than Gibson the last few years so make of that what you will.

Curious how you think that helps Anaheim right now?

Also Flames don't consider that. Ruzicka is by far the most valuable piece in that trade and Zadorov is the 2nd most

We are rebuilding pal, not trading a 20 year old center and one of the NHL’s top prospects for a rental

These Nylander trades have gotten WAY out of hand. Debrincat...a superior player...with additional contract control...didn't get this. AND you want to dump Murray?

Nylander has held out before. He's not giving a team friendly deal to ANYONE let alone a new team.

We're not trading two key pieces of our future for one season of William Nylander. If he's interested in playing for us, we can talk to him in 2024, when we don't have to spend any asset, let alone two prime ones, to acquire him.

Where I agree that the Nylander trades have gotten WAY out of hand because he isn't going anywhere. A few points here, Debrincat is not a superior player to Nylander and he actually does not have contract control at the moment. His agent only submitted a list of 5 teams in which 3 had no interest and 2 don't have the cap room for the long term contract demands. Unless someone can pull a rabbit out of a hat, he is going to have to settle for a 1-2 year deal at a lower cost while everyone waits for the cap floor to go up. He in fact has much less control over his situation.

The Ducks laugh you off the phone tears of joy neither of those players are available let alone both, the last place team in the league doesnt make short-sighted win now moves like this when they are clearly rebuilding.

You need to actually take 5 seconds and think about both teams needs, not just whatever makes your favourite team look good on an ACGM

i cant fathom the thought process behind the nylander deal. he isnt even worth mctavish or zellweger in a 1 for 1. rebuilding teams dont trade their best prospects.

I'm comparing his actual trade last year. And Yes Debrincat is superior to Nylander. 100%

#1 multiple insiders say that Anaheim is pushing hard for a Nylander trade

#2 Nylander had 40 goals and 87 points last year playing second line minutes and wasn't even on PP1 to finish the year he was 200th in minutes played in the league and still top 10 in goals. At least 50% or Leaf fans would tell you he is better than Marner. He regularly is the best Leafs forward in the playoffs, doesn't get his minutes with Matthews and literally started last year on on a line with Malgin then Robertson, Kerfoot, Jarnkrok.

Everyone thinks he's some second liner that gets carried. He has never been given the same chances as Marner, doesn't get the same quality of linemates and still puts of great numbers.

Most leafs fans would easily trade Marner to keep Nylander and I assume if Verbeek is pushing hard for him it's cause he and 5-10 other NHL GMs realize that if you put him on your first line he has 50 goal 100 point potential. It's not far off what he did this year on the second line. Just giving him 2 minutes more per game would have likely got him there.

1. You're going to have to link that with something credible, I haven't seen a single person link Nylander and Anaheim

2. Anaheim literally finished -129 in goal differential. McDavid couldn't fix that if they added him for free. Nylander played the 3rd highest minutes per game among forwards on the leafs. Are you suggesting everyone played 2nd line minutes? He also played over 500 minutes at 5v5 with Matthews this year.

I will be shocked if he hits 100 points even once in his career

You just don't get it.

NOBODY thinks that William Nylander is "some second liner that gets carried" by John Tavares and whatever stiff is on their left; EVERYBODY thinks that Nylander is the most valuable player on that line.

NOBODY understates, or fails to understand, Nylander's gifts or value to whatever team he is on.

What you fail to appreciate is that NYLANDER HAS ONLY ONE SEASON LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT.

So every GM has to factor that into the equation of determining value. That's true for all teams, but especially so for teams like Anaheim that have no hope of getting into the playoffs in that one season. Because most GMs look at Nylander's history and realize that there is absolutely no certainty that Nylander would be on their roster 12 months from now.

In short, one season of William Nylander while the Ducks finish in 25th or 28th or 30th place isn't better than several years of two prospects who might be integral parts of a playoff-contending team for several seasons.

This is the same argument people made about Dubois.

I specifically said Nylander traded with 8x$10M extension. How is that any different from the Dubois trade?

You've clearly never watched him play. It's basic math.

He has 87 points with 18 minutes a night, give him the extra 3 minutes a game that Marner has and he'd have 102 points.

Maybe if he wasn't a complete defensive liability he could play those 2 extra minutes that Marner does on the penalty kill.

And what you specifically said is contrary to history as well as common sense. The last time a team tried to negotiate an extension with Nylander he didn't play until after Thanksgiving, so why should we assume that waving your magic wand is going to have a different outcome this time? And why should Nylander sign a $10 million extension with Anaheim instead of Toronto? The whole reason why we Anaheim fans reject the entire idea of trading for Nylander is specifically because we don't believe that he's going to pre-negotiate an extension, and you're extremely naive if you think that's going to happen with ANY team on the other end.

Aside from the fact that the thing keeping the Leafs and Nylander apart is money.

Anaheim has money the Leafs don't. Big difference between the Leafs saying they won't pay over $9M and Anaheim saying they will sign a $10M deal.

Yes the famous defensively irresponsible player who had 0 defensive zone giveaways, dominated possession, had a high expected goal difference and BTW these are the stats from the most recent playoffs. Just cause someone doesn't kill penalities doesn't mean he isn't an elite player. Has led the league in neutral zone takeaways for years, is the best player in the league at carrying the puck through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone. There is a reason most analytics models have him as a $10M+ player. He is just pure dominance. His problem is that if you play him 10 games, he will be the best player in 7 of them (genuinely would say Nylander on his game laps Matthews at his peak) the other 3 games he plays like a third liner and is completely disengaged. Luckily he seems to show up in the playoffs tho.

You know why he has such low defensive zone giveaways? Because he literally doesn't touch the puck in the defensive zone. Nobody questions he is good offensively, but he literally useless in his own end

Im genuinely curious, what is your opinion on a comparable player to him?
