I just don't think they can afford him. If he can come back under 2 mill, then ABSOLUTELY. But I think he's gonna get 3 mill at least from someone like Chicago or San Jose.

They can afford $3M - it's easy to bury MacDermid in the AHL if needed. He definitely could get more from elsewhere and it's likely he does but, if he's willing to come back for another year at $3M, not sure they can pass that up.

I would have Drouin very lightly penciled in - he is not a Jared Bednar kind of player, no matter how much Mac vouches for him. He's a defensive liability every time he sets foot on the ice. So, having someone they know will actually backcheck is important.
