Some deals could be "tweaked" but this would definitely help what was basically a very "beige" draft

We are still not giving you anything for Hoffman, even retained.

We do not want him, period.

Its pretty easy to reach the floor. Its the biggest misnomer on the site. You overpay a few UFAs by a million or two like Anaheim did last offseason.

That NYR deal needs a tweak for sure. Maybe just erase it all together.

Zegras, Terry, and Drysdale extensions.

Boom, floor achieved. Then we still have half a defense to sign.

And if we actually needed help hitting the floor, why would we want retention? Why would we pay for cap dump either way?

The answer is, we wouldn't. Anyone dumping cap on Anaheim with the justification of "yOu NeEd To HiT tHe FlOoR sOmEhOw" tells me they haven't bothered to actually look at who we have to sign this off-season.

Hoffman is a locker room cancer, and a depth scoring winger who doesn't score. We don't have room for him on our roster.

Gotta 2nd this.
AL has lost value but we're talking from a 1st OA to maybe a top 20 pick as it stands.
He could rebound next year and become worth a top 10 pick again or continue to slide.

I'd say MTL's pick next year in the 1st round top 10 protected would be the base piece needed in any AL deal
Odds are you'll end up with a 11th-16th OA pick as i dont see us making the playoffs.
After that i think we'd need to sadly sacrifice Tuch who's playing great in BOS U with Lane Hutson our star LD prospect or Josh Roy who's been clutch in back to back WJC Golds.
Probably still need a 3rd round pick attached thats a conditional 2nd if AL has a career high exceeding his NYR totals by 10 pts before the 2024 draft
This way if he breaks out you get something more .

More then Dach or Newhook who got roughly that combined
Which makes sense as his value's still higher then either of theirs.

It’s moot to even attempt a “fair value” deal when NYR has no intention to move him. If AL demands a trade then it’s a talking point. NYR aren’t moving him for “fair value” or slightly above for that matter. Chytil, Laf, Kakko, othmann, gabe, Miller, Schneider, fox and shesty are their guys for the next 10 years

Well somebody's gonna take him and you need to get above the floor

Did you even bother to look at the Anaheim Ducks CF team page before making this statement?

Here, let me help you out:

{cap floor = $61.7 million}
"Projected Cap Hit: $44,451,667"
Amount needed to "get above the floor" = $17.3 million
"Roster Size: 15/23"
Amount of Roster Slots open = 8
RFAs to sign = Zegras, Terry (plus three others)
Assuming that Zegras and Terry get long-term deals, it would therefore be impossible for Anaheim to pay the remaining 6 players the League minimum of $775,000 and NOT "get above the floor"
