So what? They're not trading a 1st for a 4th liner and mid picks. It's not a need and they have other important fish to fry.
And speak for your team when talking about late 1sts. The Blues clean up like bandits on those late 1sts and 2nd rounders. Snuggerud, Neighbours, Thomas, Kyrou, Thompson, Barbashev, Dunn, Kostin, Fabbri, Perunovich, all between #20 and #56 since 2014. From 12 total picks. There are teams who have no managed that much of a haul from ALL their picks since 2014, earlier 1sts included (ahem).
They'll be just fine drafting, thanks.
Frederic is no longer a fourth liner. The question is whether you believe he will maintain his finishing rate, but for a team with Hayes and Kappanen on your second line … I’m not sure I’d label Frederic a 4th liner? I know you have hope that other players step up.
Jake Neighbours is a good example of a prospect who really struggled in year 1 to play an overall game, but he’s 21 and has growth potential to hit 40
I get it that you wouldn’t do the deal, but at least watch the player or look up his numbers before diminishing him. I hope they can resign him personally. His upside projection is Al Iafallo type and you can always use those
