I think the Penguins decline. Pickering and the 14OA is a pretty hefty cost for just about any return. I like Toffoli but Tanev doesn't fit what the Pens need. They're on the market for a LHD, not a RHD, and Tanev is older than what the Pens should be targeting.

Pittsburgh's window is closing as their stars age out and they're going to trade the 14th overall draft pick and their best young prospect for a 31-year-old winger and 33-year-old defenseman?

In my opinion, that would be horrible strategic planning.

Wings have no use for another LHD defenseman. They have 11 contracts on the big roster and in the AHL. They need a RHD.
