I don't see the Hawks making that Murphy trade and Caleb Jones likely isn't getting offered a contract extension (which I agree he shouldn't get too). Isaak Phillips needs more NHL ice time. He's better than Caleb Jones.

Murphy retained a million should fetch a 1st. This is more quantity than the quality of an actual first even if the combined value is probably in the right zipcode of a 1st. Kyrou is small (5'10 170) and may not have more of a ceiling than being a bottom pairing PP2 guy. Hard giving up a middle pairing RHD on a great contract (which it would be with that retention) for just that and couple picks late in the 2nd/3rd and a journeyman.

I don't see hawks trading murphy anytime soon (Veteran Presence I just think Kyle Davidson and Richardson will want at least SOME guys like that around, also longest tenured hawks player) .

Also hawks don't need miller, he can go **** off (buyout)

Value for Murphy is wonky to say the least because on his own Kyrou + 2nd + 3rd is a massive overpay but with 1M retained and a fifth i'm not sure but I'd assume Dallas still doesn't accept that.
