Brock Boeser Trade Thoughts

Description
Based on Shayna Goldman proposals in The Athletic:

"Boeser isn’t the most dimensional winger and has some drawbacks to his game. But with a change of scenery, he might play to his strengths more consistently. Though it requires more than cap space to bring him in, a 26-year-old might be worth taking a leap on versus a player who is approaching 30 in free agency — especially when there’s cost certainty in his deal, plus potential cap growth in a year. And even though the Canucks aren’t rushing to move him in some salary-cutting move like they might have been pre-Ekman-Larsson buyout, they’re still probably selling low, which should intrigue teams that think a bounce back could be incoming."

It depends, how much is Vancouver willing to eat on his deal. I don’t mind the Canes trade, but if at all possible, I would be trying to get Vancouver (or another team if need be) to eat a bit of his deal just to create a little bit extra wiggle room for the contract crunch next year. But that’s in an ideal world, and I don’t se the Canes paying more than that.

So his agent had months to set up a deal and couldn't find any takers but now you buyout OEL and suddenly Boesers worth a haul? Detroit passes.

They had trouble moving him for nothing last year. I get they’re not in the same cap crunch pre OEL buyout but it doesn’t really change Boesers value to rest of league.

I personally think he is a prime bounce back candidate in the right situation. If I’m the canes I might to a Drury for Boeser swap. If VAN retains a bit could throw a mid pick in as well.

Boeser has averaged over 60 points a season over his entire career..

Canucks aren't in cap trouble anymore so have no need to move anyone.

Estimated value for Brock is C+/B- level prospect + 2nd rounder.

Find your definition of 'a haul' amusing for a player who has 311 points in 398 games in a consistently awful team.

Widely accepted his value was diminished last season as Canucks were capped out so other teams were looking to take advantage.

I don't think Carter is waiving for Vancouver, but I would happily replace him with Granlund and/or Petry. Even add more if needed. Boeser might be one dimensional and a bit overpaid, but he isn't a liability by any means. These lowball offers for him and Garland don't make much sense to me.

The issue with the Wild acquiring Boeser is their cap is pretty tight and IMO they'd be better served using that cap to try to acquire a center. If they didn't have so much dead cap, Boeser would be a pretty good pickup for them at that price.

He had some of the worst defensive numbers in the league, in case you cannot see the image.

Bro let me help you out with the math...

311 points in 398 games, that's 78.14%.
A normal NHL season is 82 games.
78.14% is 64.08.

Therefore, rounded down he averages 64 points a season.

Hope this helps!

Show me the stats that factor in the fact he was playing on a BRUTAL defensive team?

Only 2 Canucks had a better (lower) On-ice shot attempts against per 60...

He's by no means a defensive stalwart, but he's absolutely not a defensive liability.

That's his points per season, you can slice it however you want and pretend doing math works, but that's not how the nhl works. They look and see he's never got 60 points per season not once in his career, so your post is moot and he will not get you anywhere near what you think

Damn your defense must stink. Dom's model put him as one of the worst defensive players in the league lmfao. Naturalstattrick isn't as egregiously, but singing almost the same story.

Vancouver is still capped out. And you're still not getting anything for him from Detroit. He's overpaid, can't score goals and has no idea where the defensive zone is.

I’m in the minority here but I wouldn’t mind boeser. Just eye test in limited amounts, but a second line winger who consistently puts up 50+ for 2 years would be welcomed.

Not for Elmer Fudd though
