Just A Question NJ and WPG

Description
On TSN Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun mentioned that NJ is a place Connor Hellebuyck would sign an extension. He mentioned NJ inquired about him but that's all. There's no trade incoming, NJ just had a chat about him. If NJ did get him somehow, what would it cost? I assume it would come with an extension and if it did, how much would he want? Me personally, I'd rather just focus on the guys we have. Hellebuyck is a great goaltender but I'd rather have us focus on growing our own young guys and going from there. Plus we still need to sign Timo Meier. Let me know what you guys think.

    Did you read where the Vezina winning and 3 time nominated goalie wanted to sign with the club? With NJ defense imagine how much better his numbers would be since he pretty much carried the Jets from the goal line out. I'm pretty sure the return wouldn't be looked at as a rental.

    Me personally, I’d pass on Hellebuyck. Vegas used 4 goalies this year and won a cup. I think with VV, Schmid and Daws in the system, we could win a cup with those guys.

    When Tampa went back to back people said you need an elite goalie to win.

    I just don’t see the hellebuyck return being anything crazy. Goalies never fetch what they should. Plus there aren’t really any comparable trades. .

    Yeah I know, just see people making these massive overpays for Helle on here so I'm hoping some GM does the same in real life... 🤣

    To be honest I fully expect to be very underwhelmed by the returns from Duchois and Hellebuyck.

    I want the Devils to steer as far away from Hellebuyck as possible.
    He's one of my favorite goalies in the league but the Devils shouldn't be looking to shortening their competitive window by trading major futures for rental pieces, it's way too early for that.

    Yeah an extension at UFA prices of 9.5 mill. That doesn't add value, since a long term contract on a 30+ year old likely gives negative value over it's lifetime

    Honestly think Dubois return will shock a lot of people. I think it’s going to be better than people from fanbases other than Winnipeg think.

    Hellebuyck will return less than most think.

    I agree. Plus NJ would have to re-sign him and its reported he could get Vasilevsky money. Just don't see Fitzgerald giving that kind of money for a goalie.
