Given Carolina is heavily reliant on analytics, I'm gonna speculate that they would NEVER acquire Risto. Philly would love to unload him I'm sure.

When Morrow develops into a top pairing RHD, it will be time for Burns to likely be on the tail end of his career and may be more of a 3rd pairing guy who can play bigger minutes if need be.

I mean to be fair its hard what his value is when he played a year and a quarter of experience. Its a bit of a reach if you think he's worth a first. If this person asked me the same question and cates played lets say 3 seasons worth and put up like 40 points at best and had selke performances, then maybe but as of now for me two picks.

I think if Staal wasnt coming back we might jump at the opportunity to overpay and try to sign him to a long deal hoping he really continues to grow. We likely dont have the space or ice time with Staal coming back.

Cates is actually better as a winger but playing him as a center allows him to play his defensive game better.

We could play him as 4LW with plenty of STs play. Then maybe let him move up to 3LW as I know Martinook aren’t likely to play the same next year. What is the overpay?
