Seems like a lot of people think Lafreniere is worth a late 1st or less. I personally don't think so, but he's probably worth 8-12th OV at most. I think the Blues would rather draft with 10th OV or get a proven player.

The Blues later two picks are technically worth more but they would probably use those two picks to acquire him, if interested.

The most savvy move move would be to trade Buchnevich back to them for a massive package that includes Lafreniere.

It's not like he's Nail Yakupov who had a promising rookie year and was never able to build off that. His production so far is underwhelming but it's consistent and he's only 21, so there's still time to save his untapped potential before the Rangers ruin him.

Sure if the goal is strictly asset accumulation. If the plan is to turn the ship around quickly you can’t move Buch for a massive question mark

It is possible that they acquire one of these young wingers as well that are floating around in the rumor mill, of course they can't do anything like that unless one of those big contracts are moved from the blue line or Saad since all these guys are LWs.

I still don’t really see the need or ability to add one of the wingers floating around. I’d venture to guess it’s a lot of speculation. Keller because he’s a local guy, Debrincat because we have the draft capital.

Our winger depth is a strength. Snuggerud and Bolduc are maybe one more year at most away from most likely being on the roster. Bolduc is most likely going to be a LW, Snuggerud RW. I know you can’t count your eggs before they hatch, but those are two A/B+ prospects there. That can ease the cap situation forward. I just don’t see how or why we need to add a winger. We need a center and to fix the defense.

Yeah, I agree that C and D should be thr focus but yeah Keller being the local kid and also signed to a goof contract might be worth exploring.

I wouldn't though if Armstrong just decides to draft a C at 10, and a couple of RHD with the later two picks, maybe he trades back with the other, to increase his chances at getting grade A defenders and Cs.

I’m not watching games to scout him, but regular season Nyr was one of my go to teams when mine wasn’t playing. I really like Laf’s game this year.

Maybe I’m completely missing some glaring issue, but at his age there is a whole lot of affordable team control in the near term, and I wonder how he would perform on a roster which has a much less established top 6. Stl doesn’t have 6 vets who are better than he is at forward. NYR kinda does.

I like that he doesn’t give the puck away, he hunts it down, I like that he’s physical but also doesn’t miss games, and I like his underlying stats. Also I like his age and how that would mix in on STLs group.

I’d consider checking out Robert Thomas’ stat line. He and Laf are somewhat similar perhaps.
