Chicago already has 11 picks this draft, adding another 10 makes it unmanageable for the organization. At some point all of those picks will graduate from junior/college/European leagues and they won’t have enough contracts available to sign them all (each team can only have 50 players signed) or roster spots in the organization for them to play.
On top of that, this is just another quantity vs quality debate. The only picks being offered to the Hawks with a substantial amount of value are the two 1st and the 2nd, the rest are just throwing darts. You may hit on a couple but they are more than likely bottom of the roster guys or misses. Montreal’s 1st should end up being a very good player, Florida’s 1st and Montreal’s 2nd may end up being quality middle of the roster guys. So to me this proposal while looking flashy, there just isn’t enough quality being offered to make me want to give up a chance to draft Bedard.
