Mcbain and building a playoff Grinder a la BOS 2011 or STL 2017

Description
NHL Breakdown of Depth and Roles:

1st= Stars (good Chemistry together too)
2nd = Power Forward Line full of Goal Scorers and net front battlers.
3rd=The Shi* Distrurber or Pest Checking Line
4th=Possession , Goal Scoring and Hits.

1st= Top Pair is a nice balance of offense and defense from solid Veterans.
2nd= Solid secondary pair and future top pair
3rd = Huge pair of 6'4 D who bring Contrasting styles while being solid all around players.

Goalie Tandem is just that , a Tandem and as important as i think Monty has become.
I think if we invest in Blackwood they could be the best Tandem since Thomas and Rask.

This still leaves Farrell, Heineman, Kidney, Dach,Back, Mesar, Roy , Mailloux,Struble and Beck in Laval among others. They'll be there for call up if needed but Development will be key as is Naturally elevating people.

Each of our Laval players will have the chance to push out MTL players for jobs.
Outside our Core we wont be giving out long term deals so next man up stays relevant.
No more days of giving a spot to Armia just because we pay him either way in the NHL or AHL is done.

Now its about Cycling AHL/Young players into a position they become Veterans for the next men up from our deep Laval system.

Laval Roster breakdown:

Farrell-Dach-Roy
Heineman-Kidney-Mesar
Pitlick-Mysak-Back
Simmoneau-Davidson-Armia
Abbadanoto

Trudeau-Mailloux
Struble-Tournigy
Beaudin-JPJ (Chara of the AHL)
Norlinder

Tandem of:
Primeau
Dobes

Again i stress it'll be a Tandem with Dobes and Primeau.
There will be no starter just a tandem and 2 ways to keep their job.
Either elevating each other in a top tandem pairing or taking the job from the other.

That Dcore depth is solid even if JPJ is likely never NHL bound he's a solid AHL Gladiator fans love.
He also Fiercely protects our Goalies which is really why he's there over Dello but i digress.

Offensively we're so stacked we couldnt bring back Belzile if we wanted to sadly.
Though it is likely he'll earn a NHL job somewhere after last years performance.(Richard too)
Its a Solid system with pieces suited to Coach Houle's style. A Style that's helped him wash some of the sh*t off the Houle Name his dad caked on but i digress.

Overall both systems are built with Size and Speed in mind.
Both systems have access to depth needed to become a threat in any post season they make.
They're built to withstand the grind of Physical Series and always rely on the next man up rather then pure Starpower alone.

Draft Day Results:
Reinbacher
Hrabal
Daniil But (Just to hear "Dans Le But by Daniil But" by Michel Lacroix hahaha)

Roster Size:
People say size dont matter and i agree , alone it doesnt.
Coupled with the Speed and Mobility of a Variety of players 5'8-6'6 we're a tough Hybrid team.
Over time more Skill will come on board with speed altering the balance from Size heavy to Speed Heavy players.
But overall that Balance is built to last for at least 4 years.
This gives our DEEP AHL depth pool time to push legit NHL options out when they're ready.
In the Cap era having this much depth and ability to make moves is Stellar.
Then you factor in Michkov and But are set to join the team on ELC's just as cap starts getting tight.
This unfortunately does mean Dach, Mcbain, Anderson and others will be sold off over time as their contracts come up.
But that will only be because Youth Depth pieces like Beck, Kidney, Kappanen, Davidson, ext pushed them out.

Overall my only concern is Dobes and Hrabal as on paper timing fits perfect
But Hrabal likes to overachieve which might make for a NSH situation with Saros,Lanikainen and Askarov.

Protecting the Youth:
Xhekaj and Foligno are two of the Toughest SOB's in the NHL and i still acquired Desharnais.
These guys are finishers they dont instigate and play hockey until its time to send a message.
Days of Caufield getting driven hard into the boards are done, you hit em high,we'll hit you low.
Like WSH with Orlov,Wilson and Hathaway we'll be willing to take the penalty to protect our assets.
We may have to sacrifice a game here or there but it will mean having less injuries.
On a team like MTL injured the way we have been at historic rates since 2017 this is a step forward.
A way to end the culture of perpetual Injuries we have here
Beginning the Culture of High action Impact Hits and the space it creates for our speedy goal scorers.

MIN is cap strapped this year so parlaying in 2.825m between a Center and a Winger gives them options.

MTL gets a big physical Winger to protect Beck his rookie season until he adjusts to the NHL fully. His style of hockey will draw a ton of attention like Gally does and we'll need someone there as a Deturrent who can also play hockey.

Why give up Evans for a Bandaid?
I replaced him with Mcbain a Power Forward
He became Redundant when i did that.

Détails additionnels:
Think of him like a project same as when we got Montembault and we'll build him back up hopefully into a decent Tandem Goalie. His and Monty's age fits with our Build and Dobes timeline (we're hoping )

We moved Allen to make room for Blackwood because there is a belief he can still salvage his career in the Mecca of Goaltending here in MTL. Love Allen but he's a back up for a Starter not a tandem goalie like we need today and each time he takes on more games he goes onto LTIR for extended lengths

Lol Absolutely Not from Minnesota. We aren't taking on your contract dump and crappy human being fir Marcus foligno. Marcus foligno is also cheaper and better player. Lol. Not in a million years is Minnesota adding anything to foligno. You are the one paying a 1st for Hoffman @Billy739

Jake Evans has zero value to Minnesota. Nothing piece

Arizona not really in the selling mood, they have an abundance of picks and prospects and mediocre. They kind of need some that want to remain in the desert, they are quietly building a rough and tough team, have some skill, could use competition in the top 8 on the blueline, and high skill up front. Hoping michkov drops to 6 and reinbacher falls to 12 for ideal draft.

Ok so swapping 5th for 6th to help aid in the hunt for Michkov move the needle even a bit ?

Your original trade probably not bad, but the need for the players wasn’t there, so switch to a d prospect and forward prospect and probably not bad. Just so many draft picks in arizona, so much quantity has to turn into quality, so possibly some upgrading firsts or fix some holes going forward, interesting squad coming in arizona. 5 for 6 might be interesting to secure somebody they love might be an idea with the abundance of picks they have.

I know ill regret acknowledging you as you're clearly a Gossip Hound
But Hoffman in this scenario as CLEARLY STATED had MTL RS and MTL paid another team to RS
So Hoffmans Salary is 1.125m which makes his AHL Salary 2/3rds of that $749,925.00 or rounded up $750k

You still clear 1.1m extra if you waive him to the AHL and clear more cap if he's claimed.
Whether you like him or hate him. Keep him , Bury him, Sell him or Terminate him after MTL and the other team RS its cheaper then Foligno (you'd be buying out 1.125m for 366k hit over 2 years

This is why emotional people make bad business partners.
They cant set aside their bias's to make informed decisions from a business POV
Your views on a 1.75m Center with term identical 2 year hits from your buyouts says it all.
You're to busy trying to play Checkers to realize the game is actually Chess
This is the Cap Era not your Grandad's hockey

a big overpay - AZ weakest position is C and outside of crouse has no power F in top 9, so AZ isnt going to give up 23yo power middle C for anything less than a big overpay.

Ok so what im hearing is ARZ wants D so any interest in Harris instead?
Call it Harris , Swapping 5th for 6th and a 2nd round pick ?
Harris is better then Ylonen plus the swap of firsts so i took out the 3rd.

For CHI any interest in Ylonen for Dach?
If so what makes you whole to balance this out?
You looking for maybe adding a 4th and getting a Center back like Mysak or Davidson?
Or balance it with picks ?

Im open to suggestions

I think upgrading their 6th to 5th and adding some D seems to be the path
Give them a shot at Elite and some say Generational Talent in Michkov who fits their build timeline
While also giving up a young LD like Harris to help lead their core forward

Close enough for me , i could see that being fair
I figure Vrbetic gives you another giant like Schmid to develop
He's still young with 1 year pro since again out of junior
he's just in a system that does better with smaller goalies or atleast the one's under 6'4
The mammoth monster size guys we have little to no luck with and they only succeed once they leave us.

I know Blackwood is injury prone but is it a repeat issue or just something knew everytime?
Either way he still fits but how much we get out of him depends on the issue itself.

Arizona would prefer right handed, but I’m sure that works, depending on rfa negotiations, if I’m Arizona I sit at 6 and run to the podium if michkov is there, and if not be fine with whoever is there bpa. But with the wealth of picks going forward, getting who they want and not gambling probably not a bad strategy either. If Mcbain comes in at a nice number and nice term this is probably all null and void. 5x ish not sure what the hit is

So basically if SJS just picked and Michkov is still there you'd accept this deal?
If not then you wouldnt ?

Seems fair
I want Mcbain but truth is Lowry is just as serviceable even if older and on a team selling
So if the Draft day deal falls through there's always that route to take as my vision for Mcbain was just for 4 years.
After that i figured he'd leave and we'd have Smith, Beck, Kidney, Kappanen, Mesar, Davidson or someone like that step up and push out him ,Dach and Anderson.
Let them all Mature into roles become Gamers in the AHL then come up and dominate the NHL. In Beck's case Mcbain buys him 4 years to step into a top 6 role i believe he'll dominate.

We were this close to getting him too but out GM situation fell apart during the negotiations basically lol
I get why that didnt exactly inspire confidence and GM Armstrong is a guy who won a cup building up players like him with size in a league that's more speed based every year.

I don’t, but I drive a truck lol, could easily see it though. Coyotes got an interesting squad coming, geekie guenther Cooley with 6/12 could be a stacked top 9 rather quick.

The way you're going is positive and Michkov like a Bedard helps you get there a lot faster.
With all the youth you got overachieving you're still in a position to sell Keller, Crouse, and Schmaltz for a profit as they get pushed out by youth.
Only issue i see is like in OTT is the Overcrowding at the NHL level. ARZ has to be willing to invest in their prospects via the AHL letting them organically take NHL jobs .
If they do that there could be a bidding war to host them instead of them basically asking anybody in ARZ at this point.

I still say if you changed your Logo to Wylie Coyote and your AHL team to The RoadRunner it would be the most over team ever in the NHL.
Pretty sure i just stole that bit from Patrick Lalime but he's ****ing right , it would be the coolest merch to weir.
WB would profit, NHL would Profit and ARZ as a whole would profit.

Keller might have age and term to make sense, but ya some of the other term might have been a little early to be buying, but can’t run out a complete team of 22 year olds or the rest of the leagues cast offs. Kind of an interesting spot to find some diamonds in the rough, anybody not getting much attention should get you ample opportunity as undrafted free agents. I like the rough and tumble aspect being built, and skill of michkov and a Cooley signature could be a rather ridiculous first line with Keller in a couple seasons.

Nobody especially Mike Hoffman wants crappy Hoffman in their lockerroom. My gosh Montreal was the only team to offer him dude and he's a one trick pony. Guess what, Minnesota gm and coach don't like players like him. Keep him, he's nothing more than a CapDump. Imagine thinking you could get foligno and draft pick from Minnesota for capdump and ahl body. Trade Hoffman elsewhere. You will have to pay to dump him

Emotional funny? Funny. Minnesota isn't buying out anymore players. MIN has connor dewar as 4c abd freddy as 3c. Jake Evans would be a depth body in suite. Foligno still has alot of value as Mike Hoffman, nk matter his cost has Zero, Absolutely Zero. Montreal fans like yourself refused to acknowledge your team was the only one who offered him. You got it wrong thinking MIN would add anything to Foligno

I knew i'd regret it lol
Point is when you get him you're able to clear cap whether you keep him or not . . .
Im done humoring you speaking for Coaches you've never met , thats just too far.
I mean i can chalk you trying to speak for all MIN fans as being passionate but speaking for Coaches thats just ignorance.
Opinions i can humor , misrepresentation of opinion as fact is unacceptable

Respond if you like , you're on the Ignore List.
I'll only speak to adults who state Opinion as Opinion and Fact as Fact while engaging in Democratic Debate.

Im simply done dealing with an adult throwing a tantrum in a debate as if any of this could actually happen lol
Its simply Depressing at the very least that someone finds this appropriate .
Enjoy

I agree Michkov and Cooley with Keller would be nuts.
Depending on who you get at 12 it could be even more nuts
Caufield fell into our laps i think at 15th OA? cause of his size
Benson is facing similar concerns and might fall into your laps
If he does you'll be a top offensive team in the next 3-5 years if you can nail down your blueline and Goaltending situations

It’s been more of a mental, maturity thing. He hasn’t done the things to take of his body, get himself prepared for season. There were some signs of maturation this year. He fired his old agent, made amends with our GM. I think he would do well as #2 on a team with a real professional as #1. He needs to see how it’s done. There is a ton of talent there…but we haven’t been able to unlock that upside here.

Coaches I never met? Montreal fans are funny. Us Minnesota fans know what Bill Guerin and Dean Evason look for. Calen Addison was benched for not playing d. Fiala was traded for being a one way player and clashing with Dean Evason. Take your losses and trade Mike Hoffman elsewhere. No team is trading for him and doing Montreal bidding for them. Minnesota will keep Marcus foligno.

No, put me on ignore list if you like , but you represent the classic example of a Montreal fan dumping Hoffman and can't understand why another team wouldn't want him

Goaltending isn’t in bad shape, they probably add one to the mix this year, benson was a teammate of geekie this past season, probably go looking there if he’s there at 12, depending on defenseman. I’m so hoping michkov is there at 6. Right rink and scenario and this team spends to the cap and this team is ready for 2/3 of the right ufas and this team could be legit rather quick.
