Boston rejects nothing of interest for them there. I like the philly trade for TK with no retention (which edmonton doesn't need we can easily afford that extra 2.5 mil)

If TK comes over without retention that trade goes through and is good for both sides

Overpays are somewhat needed to get a star nowadays. At the time imo Ekholm was an overpay but that worked out. It isn't a totally fleece from philly just a slight overpay which is worth it

Can’t see the Hawks eating $6.5m for Cody Ceci over the next two season, it’s not like they are desperate for d-men,

Keep Foegele. Don't overpay Bouchard, and arguably Kostin, McLeod

With the retention I see that TK deal as fair.

No Foegele, Bourgault or Broberg not both and I'd be alright. I still think Ekholm was an overpay, and love the player. That's all the Oilers do and have done, overpay in trades and to UFA's. The team and a large portion of the fanbase are stuck in the past. Edmonton's a place good players want to play now and the players on the team that has made the playoffs 4 years in a row aren't worthless

Actually it's not, even on the surface. Not even close with the retention. Edmonton would be getting a point per game player for 3 million a year. The first is also a year down the road and the Flyers would undoubtedly get a 2023 first from someone in a TK deal which is also a far superior draft.

Don't try and "actually" me. You don't know, just like me or anyone else. Oilers shouldn't and I don't think they would make that trade.

This is more than the Oilers gave up for Ekholm at the deadline too.

I will "actually" you any time I feel like it. If you wouldn't take that deal but you aren't very bright.

You engaged with me, first you were condescending, and now you're insulting me. What are you hoping to achieve here?

Quit being so soft, nobody is insulting you. I simply started a hockey discussion with you and you came out at me with "Don't actually me." What exactly did you expect was going to happen when you got all defensive like that. If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.

I'm very worried about the Oilers becoming a bottom dweller team in 3 years and McDavid and Draisaitl walking away. Overpaying for players like Konecny when the Oilers were already the highest scoring team in the league is worrisome.

They walk away if we don't win a cup. We don't win a cup without taking risks on big-time players.

I don't believe they will for a second. That's media and Oilers got McDrai hater B.S.
Teams get lucky, and unexpected things happen in the playoffs. But a team has to make the playoffs to get lucky or for anything to happen. Losing in the playoffs is on the players and coaches. Not making the playoffs is on management and ownership.
I've seen a lot more stories about players staying to win (Nuge) and leaving because they haven't or won't get the opportunity (Eichel), and I can't think of any about "no Cup so I'm leaving" if their teams making playoffs.
